One thing I wish Lane, Mahoney, Tarhule(Illinois State), etc would do is start lobbying the state.
Illinois is unique in how much money is set aside for each school and how much is allocated to one specific school. University of Illinois, the Champaign Urbana campus in particular, gets almost as much state money as every other public state school combined.
It doesn't help that SIUe kind of pulls and dilutes SIU.
In a perfect world SIU would have operated as a separate system which would be nearly on par with U of I(like Texas with the UT, Houston, and Texas State systems).
