I like the new logo on the stage.  I like that it's not in the little media room, but in the arena.  I like the hire.  I like the direction of the athletic department.  Dear God, I've got a man-crush on Jerry Kill!

In all seriousness, that looked like a top-notch ceremony.  Mr. Kill seems intent on making SIU a first class athletic department.

The press conference for the last coach was nice, but this looked 1st class.

I was annoyed at kill for playing a part in keeping hinson one extra year, but all is forgiven with me.  Good times ahead folks

I overheard someone in the crowd say "I'm so excited for basketball! When does it start?" and their companion said "We have to get through football season first."

...and baseball, and softball, and the dog days of summer. 😡

I too am excited for basketball. Don't really care if they go like 8-20 in his first year - This excitement is real. Hinson's intro wasn't excitement it was more like - Okay, how is this going to go down.

Oh....Have to give Mullins a golf clap for mentioning Hinson. Classy move.

For what its worth, Darius Beane has liked all of SIU tweets regarding Mullins.  If he is upset about the hire or it bothered him I highly doubt that would happen.  I think that is a good sign.

It’s all about what happens/where Dad ends up IMO.  I would expect them not at SIU next year.  I hope I’m wrong.

I think Darius will be fine playing for SIU if his dad isn't retained as a coach. I can see Beane, Sr taking control of John A. Logan's program should Smithpeters join Mullins staff.

Nice one-on-one interview with Coach Kill.  With about a minute left he mentions they could possibly raise $14 million in a year 😲🤑

Not that it matters but I’m kind of interested in what other candidates Kill interviewed

No matter what happens in the near future concerning current staff and players, I have not been this excited about Saluki basketball in well over a decade.

I will say right now I have absolutely no inside information just looking at social media.  I believe that Darius will be a Saluki next year.  I believe that Bryan Mullins will make everyone currently on the roster or committed to come believe that this is the best place for them.  If our back court is Beane, Cook, McGill... with the way Bryan coaches defense, the MVC will not be thrilled to play against the Salukis.  If Bryan can find a way to add a talented Big man through JUCO or transfer this team could be dangerous.

Bryan will be a breath of fresh air for these kids. For guys like Darius, his playing time outlook for next season hasn't changed. He'll be a major factor and there will be no shortage of minutes available for him. Where dad winds up will have to be awful dang attractive to him for him to seriously consider leaving given what his role will be. It's also similar for Jimmy. Plenty of opportunity available for him as well.

As it stands, I don't see any major contributors leaving. It could be up in the air more for the incoming recruits, but I doubt it once they talk to/meet Mullins. This team will be intact next year and Bryan will have a chance to plug a couple of holes as he sees fit.

I'm fully on board the hype machine. With a couple of roster breaks and/or a grad transfer, I would not be surprised to see next years team finish with a better record than this years. The Valley is ripe for the taking.

I wouldn’t be too surprised if Brendan Mullins and Beane Sr. swapped positions to be honest.

I was thinking the same but there isn't much job security up there right now.

This is very true and a good point as I’d think the Beanes would want to go somewhere with more stability if they were to leave

The only time i have ever spoke to Mullins was after a Loyola game in Carbondale. i asked him if it was bittersweet to be there on the opposite side. He said "Yeah. It kind of feels like even if you win, you lose, in a way."

Glad to have him back!
