Great news; Welcome Home Bryan. I can't wait till fall to see our new team & "look". I'll even renew my subscription to ESPN+.
Go Southern Go (that's all the words I know) lol.
Good Lord. Lets let him walk in the door before speculating of his departure.
I've been told 5 years $475,000 per. Sorry if its already been posted. Looks like they just got 5 more years of season tixs from me. Awesome
I find it funny they reached out to Lowery to provide a statement in the announcement article.
Welcome G I Joe. Or is 5 Star General Joe. Anyway welcome, and we salute you. Great Freaking Day!!!!!
I don't understand bradley, both their fan forums seem genuinely upset we fired hinson. Why the hell do they care?
They probably realize SIU just got a hell of a lot better......
BEYOND EXCITED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's awesome!
I had to squint to make sure I was reading that correctly ha
games wont be packed next year, but I would expect somewhere north of 3800 considering we were at 3300 this year; mainly the excitement of BM will be offset by how bad the team could be.
Average paid attendance this year was 4,470, not 3,300. I would expect 5,000 with the people who start buying tickets again.
Doesn't matter to me if they lose every game (which they won't) if they play like BM did.
The excitement and energy will build, and wins will follow.
March on triumphantly!
Been stuck at work; some miscellaneous thoughts on this sensational day for SIU and Saluki basketball:
1. It's not easy to find guys who can both coach and recruit at a high level. I'm optimistic Bryan might be one of those guys.
2. Southern has rightfully taken a ton of heat for a long list of missteps in recent years, including what happened last March, so credit Kill and Co. for making this happen today. I suspect the price for Bryan went up this year compared to last year, and they marshaled the needed resources to do it. There will be some griping in some circles for paying 475K a year given the state of the university, but it's the price of doing business.
3. The transfer comings and goings have become a big deal in college basketball, and I have a feeling Southern will fare much better in this department under Mullins than it did under Hinson. Saluki fans will have to temper their expectations a bit on the Wolves pipeline (high-end guys still want to go to Power 5 schools), but SIU has become a much more viable transfer and grad transfer destination now for some of those guys, and others in Mullins' network, who decide they want a change of scenery. I also think Mullins will build relationships with players (see the Custer tweet) that will make outbound transfers less frequent.
4. Like others, I'm curious to see how Mullins' coaching staff comes together. I'm completely open-minded about it, and am confident he will pursue a good mix that provides both the needed recruiting and coaching firepower to assemble a well-rounded coaching staff.
5. Yes, Mullins will need a few years to really get it revved up, but I like how quickly Southern made the move ... gives him a fighting chance to work on landing some spring talent that can make the Salukis competitive next year.
6. Being a fan of a midmajor program sucks in some ways. As others have said, if Mullins succeeds as we think he will, we'll have to live with a barrage of rumors of him getting poached, and that likely will happen before too long. But, nothing any of us can do about it ... enjoy however long this lasts, and hope he does some serious damage for the Dawgs while he's here.
7. SIU Arena will be rocking again, beginning this winter. Saluki fans are starved for something to believe in. That something is Bryan Mullins.
8. Not seeing many people misspell Bryan as Brian so far. Good job, people ... keep it up.
Looking forward to hearing what Bryan has to say tomorrow and an exciting offseason to come!
SIU wasted no time getting a jump on new season tickets. You can put down a $50 deposit today to secure a seat. Good to see them thinking ahead!
