Bryan Mullins graduated with a 4.0 grade point if I remember, he has held a division coaching position for several years, he is passionate about Saluki Basketball, grew up as a coach's son, has deep ties to AAU basketball, has strong recruiting ties in Chicago and has been part of the 7th rated defensive program in the NCAA, etc.  He may be asking for more money but he should be asking for more money.  You often get what you pay for.  One last thing he has competed at a high post season level and knows what that takes.  Hire the guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOOF!

It might seem suspicious if we were to hire Mullins immediately without a real coaching search.  So maybe SIU is “looking into other options” but really the target is Mullins.

Why?  Other programs hire often within a very short time of a dismissal/resignation.  Are those "suspicious" too?

Given the fact that Coach Hinson was informally dismissed after last season, I would think the "ready list" was already well established. 🤔 😆

I thought that’s what you meant when you said SIU could be trying to throw people off the trail.  Hopefully we don’t fuck this up! I want Mullins as much as everyone else.

I honestly don’t know what he is asking.  I was just told it is not bargain basement prices. I would guess he gets at least what Hucky is making.

Yes, great post. And this is why it is nothing like the Nick Hill situation.

Been hearing a few things and this concerns me a bit. Dane Fife, former coach at IUPFW is supposedly in the mix. He was 82-97 at Fort Wayne and 34-22 or something like that in the Summit conference , which is not saying much. I certainly hope Coach Kill is not thinking about this guy. He is and has been at Michigan State for the past 8 seasons.

The other thing I have been hearing is that a couple of Matt's assistants at Purdue are in the mix. That works for me if they have previous successful head coaching experience at some level. Just always worried when we take assistants with no head coaching experience....however, SIU is normally not going to be able to hire away a successful coach from a low or mid major school as they usually are looking to go power 5 not make what many would consider to be a lateral move.  Well, I'm guessing we will have a much better idea by Sunday, unless of course Barry wins the tournament, and with  our luck thats a real possibility.

I would love to have Steve Lutz off Painters staff!! He and Mullins would be my 1 and 1a of the manes that have been floated.

Lutz's base salary is $250,000. His two-year contract is up this April.
