Lutz, was at Creighton and did recruiting. Creighton is being looked at by the FBI for possible recruiting violations. I'm not saying that Lutz had anything to do with that, but it crossed my mind.

I would steer clear of anyone with any potential ties to this bribery scandal. He looks good on paper but that would absolutely kill us if he got indicted. Not worth the risk.
EDIT: Creighton's Preston Murphy was identified this afternoon as the targeted coach there.
Craving a McBride Special!

Thanks for finding out this info.

It looks like both Creighton and Oregon were trying to buy the same kid.

Then you'd better be prepared to steer clear of a lot of people. I guarantee you this has longer tentacles than what's been prosecuted so far.
This article frames it as if Hinson would be back if Southern wins three this weekend, easy draw or not: https://thesouthern.com/sports/college/salukimania/hinson-on-the-hot-seat-as-salukis-open-mvc-tournament/article_92de946b-beb4-5c0e-b58a-dc4764b2111a.html
I understand the fear of Hinson winning the MVC tournament but no matter, I still think he is gone. Unfortunately, I don't have the same faith that the powers that be will do the right thing and hire Mullins. It seems like we are at a crossroad with SIU athletics, either we step up and move forward or sink into mediocracy and for the most part disappear from the basketball world. For anyone who follows this website including our athletic director, use some common sense and make the right hire (Mullins.)
WOOF!

I had to laugh when I read this article 😀 Hefferman is terrible.
Heff knows damn well Hinson is not coming back. Media click bait bullshit
The way I see it, this is definitely Barry's last stand as the coach, no matter what happens. If they somehow catch lightning in a bottle and make it to the NCAA tournament, Barry can retire and ride off into the sunset knowing that he's achieved a lifelong dream. As idiotic as he can be most the time, he has to know it's taken him this long in his career to make it to the dance and it may take him that long to make it back. Without the six seniors, next year's team appears to be average at best.
If they don't win, then it's an obvious decision for Kill. Win-win on all sides.
This is exactly correct except I think he steps down either way

Hefferman is like a politician-hedging his bets, just in case. A knowledgeable basketball writer would have begun questioning Hinson's results a long time ago.
Such a writer might have questioned the hire in the first place.
What we need now is Loyola to lose
They're in the NIT anyway so we will have to wait
