Be careful of rumors fellas. Last years leaks will mean it will be much tighter this year. I could see fake rumors out there as well to keep people off their scent.
Eh....last year and this year are kinda apples and oranges. Last year it was exposed that the biggest athletic donor (or his wife more specifically) nixed the planned changes and the athletics dept was scrambling. This year is just a standard coaching search out in the open. Some rumors are more accurate than others....
Wasn’t directed at you. Just a general statement to not get too high or low on rumors.
This doesn’t really mean much, but just in case you guys care to see this from Todd Hefferman on Twitter:
Loyola associate HC @Bryan_Mullins_ was kind enough to talk to me today. He said he has not been contacted by SIU about its opening. Mullins said he is focused on the NIT but is keeping his options open after that. #Salukis

Mullins can't say he's been contacted. Loyola is probably going to the NIT, so their season is not over yet.
I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!
Loyola gets an automatic bid to the NIT as the MVC regular season champion. All conference regular season champs get an automatic bid to the NIT if they don't get an NCAA bid.
I don't think that SIU is going to be talking to a prospective coach while their season is still going on. But, on the other hand, I would be very surprised if Jerry Kill or someone close to him hasn't already "chatted" with Mike Mullins (Bryan's dad and prominent Chicago AAU coach).
From the Chicago Tribune
“Bryan Mullins appears to be a strong potential candidate to replace Southern Illinois coach Barry Hinson, who announced Friday night he was stepping down after the third-seeded Salukis (17-15) fell to sixth-seeded Northern Iowa 61-58 in a quarterfinal.”
Ken Moses from Missouri State University will be on staff. He is the fiance of the Marketing lead at SIU.
This is true. Moses was at the game and visited with Kill at the tournament.
Clancy is likely to stay too
Whomever the coach is will select their own staff
Whomever the coach is will select their own staff
And that needs to be the case. If they hire someone simply because he's the fiancé of some marketing twit then the folks making the decisions here need to be sacked. I certainly hope coach Kill is smarter than that.
Yea if nepotism lands a junior college assistant from some backwater JUCO a div 1 assistant job the Kill needs to be run out of town
Kill would never choose a staff for the new coach. He can see it from a coach’s perspective. No coach would come here if they couldn’t choose their own staff.

Let’s see how this plays out. Look at the game film and see how sat right behind the Kill family.
Please SIU ... please NO RETREADS! When SIU has had the most success, it's been with diamond in the rough, unproven commodities. It's time to make the obvious hire and fast track SIU to the top of this sad-sack version of the MVC, where it should be. This is not a difficult choice at all.

Seems to me it’s more likely SIU administrators were just sitting near each other.
Every thing I see says it’s Mullins. If it is Bryan he will hire his own staff. Any coach that lets the AD dictate who he hires is a coach I don’t want
