The Channel 12 noon news said it would carry a Jerry Kill press conference on its live stream this afternoon. It didn't give a time.

First off wtf is hero sports ?

Robinson and Chambers ? Good god

if he brought in Lowery his house would burn before the presser was over

thad Matta is interesting he is from southern Illinois and if he is cheap enough I would be ok with that one

It ought to be WTF sports.  Just like a lot of "legitimate" news sources, they just throw it against the wall and see if it sticks.

If Chambers gets fired I think another large school will pick him up.  Penn State has an inflated view of the status of their men's basketball program.  Great basketball talent isn't clogging the highways trying to get to State College, PA.  It's like other programs in the Big 10, Iowa being a good example.  They've run every coach out of town since Lute Olson, including Tom Davis.  Hasn't made them a top notch program.

Matta?  I think if Thad has the health and energy, he might be a good choice.

Robinson-NO

Jeter-NO

No to any SLU assistants.

Hinson staying would be better than him coming back.

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - A news conference is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Monday, March 11 on head coach Barry Hinson leaving.

Hinson announced he was stepping down after SIU lost to Northern Iowa on Friday night, March 8.

I guess we'll find out soon enough, but surely this is just to formally announce the search and whatever committee they have assembled. (I'm trying to not get too excited here. 🙂 )

Edit: Oops--just saw this from Barkeep's post.

He will discuss the upcoming search for a new men’s basketball head coach.

(Inflammatory political snark)

We have had good coaches and bad coaches over the many years I have watched Saluki basketball.  I got to see the NIT champions coached by Jack Hartman as a high school kid in Carbondale.  I personally wasn't that impressed by Paul Lambert but looking back he was a pretty good coach.  I watched every home game Joe Gottfried and Allen Van Winkle coached at the S.I.U. Arena.  I was not impressed when the school hired Rich Herrin straight out of high school coaching, and had to admit he made a good college coach.  I thought hiring Chris Lowery was a good choice at the time and later really regretted it.  I never thought much of Henson and am now glad he is gone.

What I am trying to say is nobody making hiring decisions for head coaches is always right, but at least a necessary change has been made and whomever the coach is that is hired deserves our support.  The decision makers will do the best they can in light of the real world situation and finances at SIU.  Lets all hope their choice turns out to be a good one. In the end all we can do is support the choice and the players as long as we can.

The SLU assistants are trash.  That whole staff can't coach themselves out of a wet paper bag.  I've had multiple sources tell me that Ford has 'bag men' which explains their recent uptick in recruiting.  Do not want.

Facebook messaged them, they said technical difficulties are preventing live video from being broadcast. Will make arrangements for the video to be showed later.

Thad Matta is interesting? Seriously?   In 13 years at Ohio St, he won a bunch of Big 10 titles, recruited great talent, appeared in the Final Four twice, including the Championship game. COY in every conference he coached in (3 times in the Big 10.)  If he could have kept some of that great talent more than a year, probably would have won a National Championship

Matta is a great coach and a great recruiter. He's not going anywhere for less than a few million a year. I've mentioned him, but more as a joke.

Matta is a Hoopeston Cornjerker! North of Champaign.
