Our last search team was AD Mario Mochia, Provost John Nicklow, track and field coach Connie Price-Smith, broadcaster Greg Starrick, Faculty Chairman of Athletics Harold Bardo, former Board of Trustees chairman Roger Tedrick and booster Greg Cook.
I believe Rita Cheng, who was Chancellor du jour, was on the search committee too.
rita wasnt on the committee but she pulld the triggger on hiring Hinson the bbq man
the finalists were believed to be Hinson, Watson, and Muller after Weber said he wasn't interested.
Sounds a little stacked for Barry. Muller had no experience and Watson was Watson.

Hire LUKE YAKLICH from University of Michigan.
Our last search team was AD Mario Mochia, Provost John Nicklow, track and field coach Connie Price-Smith, broadcaster Greg Starrick, Faculty Chairman of Athletics Harold Bardo, former Board of Trustees chairman Roger Tedrick and booster Greg Cook.
There is only ONE person on this list I would have and degree of trust with. ONE.
Bardo, Starrick, and Price all 100% solid.
You will likely see Bardo, Starrick and Cook on the committee in March.
Craving a McBride Special!

Don't hang this one on Rita. She was following the recommendation of her AD. There wasn't a whole lot of options believed to be on the table anyway. We would likely be in the same spot or worse.

Me too. And if we have to assemble a new committee this March that one person is no longer available. And it would look funny if we asked her to join it.
Go Dawgs!

I doubt that Starrick would be able to be involved again considering his new role as AD at John A. Logan College.
Damn, I hadn't even heard Nicklow left for NOLA and is now the president of UNO.
Some1 with good basketball knowledge shuld represent alunmi/donors. Committe needs new blood.

I'll defer on Price as I don't know her all that well, but figured she'd go along with the AD for self preservation. Bardo does have an agenda, I believe that's why Lowery wasn't taken to task sooner for his poor behavior. Starrick is the only one I would have trusted. And if he's AD at John A. that probably takes him out of the equation.
I still have the opinion that Anthony Beane Sr. should be promoted to Head Coach with a 3 year contract. This should keep current players and commits in place. I am sure he was directly involved in recruiting each of them. The man has played for Gene Bess (career 1268-368), the all time winningest college men's basketball coach, and Dana Altman (career 628-329). I am sure he learned something from their influence on how to win games! In my opinion the only better option would be the availability of Bryan Mullins. I am sure he would be smart enough to find a way to keep the players and commits in place. Bruce Weber was smart enough to keep Rodney Watson on staff when he took the SIU head coaching position.
If there has to be a committee, it should be the current acting AD, Director Internal Operations, the 5 Associate AD's, and two other top manager's of the Athletic Department with specific MBB duties. They have obviously earned their titles and know the requirements for their specific responsibilities. The committee should then have to make its recommendation with the approval of the President and Chancellor. Decisions like this is what are they getting paid to do. Donors and Student Reps really have no expertise in hiring a coach and should not have search/interview duties. If the Athletic Department makes the best decision, donors and students will show their support of that decision.
This group would currently include;
Jerry Kill, Acting AD
Liz Jarnigan, Senior Woman Administrator Internal Operations
Jeff Jones, Associate AD - Internal Operations
Mark Scally, Associate AD - Business Office
Tom Weber, Associate AD (FB1, MBB2, MG) - Communications
John Lock, Associate Director - Media Services (MBB1, BSB1)
Kevin Kendrick, Associate AD - Compliance and Student Services
Jason Fairfield Associate AD - Development
John Ihrig, General Manager - Saluki Sports Properties

haev u lost your mind? Why not just add the cheerleading sposnor and gray dog to the committee?

I believe that anyone that was even remotely responsible for hiring PT should not be allowed within a country mile of our next committee!!!!!!!!!!

Ha! A search committee wont need them!
I am sure that if there is a search committee formed, each one of the titles listed above will have input through the AD anyway, so I guess it really doesn't matter. Honestly, each one of those Athletic Department staff have direct responsibilities for the operation of Men's Basketball. Who better to know the requirements, questions, and answers that a Head Coach needs to address.
