The CBI is still a thing, so maybe Mullins should pony up the entry fee dough himself, just so he could try to save face this season.Might as well just let X take 25 shots a game and go for a scoring title to give us something to watch, since it'll be yet another year without a postseason.
Gus Macker? Or is that still around?
IT'S BAAACK! Slow ball! What's that quote "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results?" Absolutely pitiful. To say a coach out-coached Mullins is really not a complement.
id like the guy to learn too. But 2 million dollars and 5 years is plenty of time. Not gonna happen. Get ready for the rebuild. It was worth a shot and I enjoyed the rideThere were at least two posters (oberkfell and I, possibly others) who noted that we were slowing things down, playing to not lose, at around the six-minute mark.
I wonder if that gloating douche-nozzle from the Murray State game will be here to point out how wrong we were . . .
I don't want Mullins fired; I just want him to LEARN.
I have no doubt that he will be a good coach some day, but I fear that we have the Porter-Moser-at-ISU version of Bryan Mullins right now.
I've been saying for two years BM is a young coach with a lot to learn. 1st lesson - recruiting is everything - get good players!!
Porter Moser, who had nothing to do with Loyola making the Final Four (LOL), is at 16 - 5 Oklahoma - ranked #23.
Mullins on the post game show:
"We've proven we can play with anyone in the league." Um, really? Drake? Indiana State?
Also Mullins on the post game show:
"Yeah, I guess I should've played Scottie a little more." Ya think??
Not much to add beyond what has been posted already but the last 4 minutes of regulation were just bottom of the barrel and inexcusable … basically 3-4 possessions that either were shot clock violations or were glorified shot clock violations with no semblance of a plan. Several guys were gassed to an extreme because the so-called great depth has vanished, and then you roll the same tired, deflated dudes out there for OT with all momentum on Missouri State’s side? You don’t want to see if Ebube or Davis can give you a spark?
So sad and so damaging to the season and probably more.
As an aside, this game was too physical for AJ. A rough night for him.
Both teams are underwhelming. I guess one of them had to step a side.
That was so bad. Inconceivably atrocious game management from the coaching staff.
Last 6 minutes of offense...?
Resemblance of any plan whatsoever coming out of timeouts...?
Ebube...?
Kennard Davis...?
44 minutes of D'mico...?
The final inbounds play with 4 seconds...?
Did I mention that we completely wasted another players' entire freshman year of eligibility for a handful of meaningless minutes for the 2nd year in a row?
I love the culture. I love the character. I love the defense. But good lord. The coaching decisions are indefensible.
Bing-bing-bing-bing-bing!
This is a great summary of how many of us feel.
Thank you.

Embarrassing.
I'm sure there will be plenty of interest in a 6' 10", 260 lb. guy in the transfer portal, which is where I would be if I were him five seconds after the end of the season.
Baffling. Stupid. Unreal.

Jaw-dropping.
Note that is the second time this season he's said that same thing about Ebube.

It comforts me knowing next time I step into some crisp clear running water in the woods, perhaps a rolling stream during a trip, with peace and quiet, we will all collectively be pulling for our dawgs. Doesn’t matter when. We actually have a fan base. That is worth more than money can buy, I think. The times are dismal but it is cool guys, we root for the same team, and a cool school. Good things will come. Pump the sunshine. And don’t forget, go zone (when you’re outmanned). Also, eat some good Mexican food, it is good for ya
SIU has 3 of the 62 biggest collapses in college basketball this year by KenPom win probability % and all 3 came at home. (Bradley was 2.5%, Missouri State was 2.8%, Austin Peay was 3.1%). All double digit blown leads at home.
I have nothing of substance to add, but this was another atrociously managed game by BM. I would also love to know the +/- differential on Troy. He’s had a rough couple games with a lot of bad turnovers.
Do we think there is any dissension in the coaching ranks with regards to how recent games have been tossed away with the slow play approach?

Regarding Troy, he is not the type of athlete cut out for playing 44 minutes a game. Some of his late miscues were clearly fatigue. A huge mistake to have him on the floor to that extreme.
