I know some expected more, but this keeps things in perspective for me and why I still see progress with this program. Highest KenPom ranking since 2008, which includes all seasons from Barry.
Guessing this is from the end of the regular season, they're at 125 right now which is below 2010 (123). But still higher than any Berry season (135 in 2018 was his highest).
I don't find 125 consoling at all - 7th among current MVC teams. Not near good enough.
Loyola 28
Murray 35
Mo St 70
Drake 84
Belmont 85
UNI 91
Bradley 97
SIU 125
Ill. St 191
Valpo 202
Ind St 230
UIC 287

It's more about where we were and where we are now. I'm not saying we should be content at 125.
I think "we" get too caught up in numbers, ratings, etc., etc. If that is all that matters, then just eliminate the Big Dance and declare the winner based upon whoever's rating. What was St. Peter's rating going into the tournament? Would they have received an at large bid? SIU "should" have beaten Creighton this year, who lost by 7 points to Kansas, a Final Four team. Murray State, in two games, was outscored by a total of 9 points in the Dance, and they were a 7 seed, ranked 17th in the country. Really? Speaking of numbers, I spent a semester out of high school at a community college, was put on academic probation. Did a little military thing, saved my bucks, got serious, paid my own tuition, and graduated from SIU College of Business on Dean's List. Statistically speaking, that should not have happened.

@dawgbytes In this case, the Ken Pom numbers reflected pretty much how we did in the MVC, the only number I really care about.
" Murray State, in two games, was outscored by a total of 9 points in the Dance, and they were a 7 seed, ranked 17th in the country. Really?"
That's a very deceptive statement. Murray in two games was not outscored by 9. They beat USF by 5 and lost to St. Pete by 10 - the team that beat 7th ranked Kentucky and 10th ranked Purdue.
Murray absolutely deserved their#20 ranking.
I stand corrected on the total points, they did go into overtime to beat San Fran. They certainly did not dominate that game. I still contend the #17 ranked was overdone. They barely got past SEMO the last week of their season.

In the AP poll, which I consider more objective - half the time coaches hand off the ranking to an assistant in the coaches poll - Murray was ranked #20. USF was a darn good team BTW.
NET: #21 Murray, #22 USF, #23 Loyola
Close game at SEMO at the end of the year? No shame there. SEMO beat a 20 win Morehead St team that made it to the OVC championship game and played Belmont tough at SEMO. SEMO also beat Evansville, a team we struggled with twice. They beat Peay by 19, we beat them by 18. The game we whipped SEMO we shot 60% from three and 59.6% overall. SEMO also won at Missouri St. We didn't.
When you go through your conference undefeated, even the OVC, you're pretty good. Murray blew out a 24 win Belmont twice, beat Peay by 35, beat UT-Chatt. by 11 (the team that should have beaten U of I in the NCAA), beat Memphis (who beat ranked Houston twice, ranked Alabama, #23 Boise, Va Tech, and lost by 4 to Zags) but lost to an Elite 8 team on poor shooting - 35% and missed 9 FTs. I saw them play several times. They were definitely a top 25 team IMO.
Won't be next year without Tevin Brown.
Does anyone know why Ebube redshirted? I know with Wonders it was said that he just needed to get caught up with the speed of the college game and he had a bit of a log jam at his position. But neither of those reasons make sense for Ebube.

I'm assuming this is just a passive-aggressive way to beat your favorite dead horse that Southern's posts weren't very good. I'll answer anyway. True freshman big guys often have a big adjustment to the college game with improving footwork, staying out of foul trouble, etc., in addition to the usual getting used to college-level competition, learning the offense and defense, etc. And yes, I'm guessing the coaches expected/hoped for more from Muila and Filewich this year. Extra time in the weightroom also doesn't hurt, but granted, Ebube appeared to be much stronger than a typical true freshman.
Not sure whether it was the right decision or not, but it's certainly moot at this point ... just have to hope Ebube can be a big plus for the Dawgs going forward.

My "almost" overreaction from this tweet...I didn't see Domask...Until the last picture. Haha
With that said, I think I saw everyone I expected to except for Filewich?

Good catch. I missed that.
Anyone know how Ben Harvey is doing, health wise?

Yikes. I'd hate to lose both, particularly Banks. I still hold out hope for him being really good for us.
