Still only have 2 assistants as of right now so I’d expect another hiring soon. I like the Veasley hire.
maybe he can get CJ Jones in some maroon and white

#583 6-4 Sophomore Guard Stephen Clay
#644 6-10 Sophomore Center Cameron Fens
#649 6-6 Freshman Forward Nathan Ojukwu
#772 6-3 Sophomore Guard Andrew King
#1122 5-11 Sophomore Guard Ethyn Brown

A few thoughts on the announced additions:
- I like the Veasley hire. Pretty sure Southern recruited him out of Freeport HS back in the day and he was a tough baller at Butler. Has solid experience and knows Illinois/Indiana well.
- Also glad he's retaining Endsley. Seems like a sharp dude who is universally liked by former/current SIU players.
- As mentioned before, you'd hope the staffers coming over from UIC and SIUE might be able to help with transfers, specifically Jones (UIC) and Minor (SIUE), though it will probably be very competitive to get either of those guys.
- Doubt Bere is coming over or he probably would have been among the first wave announced (unless he is waiting to see what else he can get before deciding). Bere was the lead recruiter for Jaheem Webber so probably makes it less likely Webber comes down.
- For the last assistant opening, I wouldn't mind someone with strong St. Louis connections. Kent Williams would be a fun hire but guessing he's pretty comfortable with his lifestyle at DeSmet.
Im just going off what Nagy said, he flat out said in an interview that none of the wright state coaches would be coming to siu with him. Bere might be going someplace else though, that i don't know.He isn't leaving Wright StateI wouldn't mind that last spot to be Dan Bere
I think Bere is the coach leaving Wright State but I'm not sure he's following Nagy right now
Justin Endsley is a good dude. Glad to see him stay on!
I agree with needing someone with contacts or familiar with the St. Louis area. Maybe getting the assistant from Edwardsville will take care of that. I don’t think Kent Williams would be interested. He left college coaching to go to DeSmet. They just won a state championship and he returns everyone. But you never know if he was offered.
How many assistant coaches do we keep on staff ?
How many assistant coaches do we keep on staff ?
Maybe I’m misinterpreting, but it seems Nagy might be switching the fourth assistant coach role they had (Fritz) to a second player development role? And that they plan to hire only one more regular assistant?

Based on the press release he’s going to have 3 assistants (hiring one more) and two player development coaches.

You can only have 3 assistants that can recruit anyway so he’s probably just changing the name of the non-recruiting role for that position. Makes sense to me, but I’m just speculating.

8 coaches is too many in my opinion. Way too many voices. One reason Matt Painter assigned the offense to one coach and the defense to another was that very reason. If we have one less Coach or two then I’m all for it.

Every assistant cab recruit, just only 3 can be activately doing it at one time IIRC.
