This is encouraging. WKU is picked 3rd in the Conference USA pre-season poll and has some big time talent. They are big, long and blew out SIU-E in their first scrimmage. They hit the portal hard and brought in what appears to be some very talented transfers. X and D'Amico being back may have made a big difference. Hopefully we get some specifics on the game.Western Kentucky board said SIU won a close one in today's scrrimmage
I would love to get a box score or a report on that WKU scrimmage!!

Mullins interview following the scrimmage. Sounded pretty positive about the progress of the team. Called out McGee, Miller, Stulic and Ferguson as guys who played well. Also, told Rodney Watson that D'Amico played. Didn't mention whether X played. Also of interest were his comments on the coaches thinking we will be a much better rebounding team and have multiple players that will be able to get to the rim offensively.
Simply for added context, Western Ky has new coach, new roster and ranked 173 in Kenpom and projected to finish 6th in the CUSA. Their KP record is 16-14, with 3 of those wins coming against DII teams.
They were picked 3rd in the Conference USA pre-season poll and received 2 1st place votes. They have several key players returning and signed some very talented transfers. Kenpom gives way too much weight to the previous season in their pre-season rankings. If you read the WKU board their fans are expecting anywhere from 20-25 wins this year.Simply for added context, Western Ky has new coach, new roster and ranked 173 in Kenpom and projected to finish 6th in the CUSA. Domask getting some PT in the scrimmage against Kansas. Hate seeing him in an Illini uniform.
Don't know if this the place but looked at Purdues stats against Arkansas and it looks like Lance's problems shooting and turnovers are still prevalent even though it is pre season

He actually started for Purdue, which, to me, is pretty mind-boggling.
Domask looks like he belongs, and against the #1 team in the country. This, combined with Jones starting for Purdue at Arkansas last night, is not a great look for Mullins and staff.
This Saluki team is going to be competitive under Coach Mullins, and will surprise many of the naysayers. Obviously a long season awaits, but most certainly this team will improve as the season moves forward. With MD and LJ having graduated, I for one look forward to a new team concept developing.
GO DAWGS!!!

you understand they gave us 4 years and graduated? and they were both offered a boatload of money that southern could not ever compete with? and that more than 1,000 other kids also entered the transfer portal?
must be a bad look on a lot of coaching staffs around the country.
It's a bad look on the staff that Domask gave 4 years and the best they could do was barely sneaking into Saturday in St. Louis.
They were picked 2nd in the conference in the same preseason poll last year and finished 8-12 in conference. (I drafted them in my $$ hoops pool). They were picked similarly the year before that. This team annually disappoints.
