Some good news here. Mizzou hires a former assistant, but not Rhodes.

I'm glad Mizzou didn't open up last year, I really was worried about them. SIU disappointing this year probably lessened the chance of him getting that job.
@salukiworld I think it did too. Although, Jackson led Memphis to a similar season as SIU this year, and he has a worse overall record than Rhodes in his 4 seasons as head coach.
It’s a bit of a head-scratching hire.
It'll be interesting to see what happens with Mitch Hannahs after this postseason for Indiana State. They upped his contract last year and I couldn't find the salary information, but prior to that he was only making around 130K.
Rhodes is currently making 170K at Southern.
Hannahs is an alum, so he may be reluctant to leave, but I still think ISU is probably going to need to up commit a little more to him if they want to ward off a bigger program.
Iowa eliminates UNC in extras. They play IndSt at 5 today- might be on ESPNU. ISU needs to win one out of two to go to the super regional. Go Sycs!
ISU looking good early, up 3-1 on Iowa in the 3rd.
It’s a good atmosphere in Terre Haute. I think if they win this they have a chance to host the Super Regional.
Watching this series and thinking about what it takes to make the CWS, it’s wild to me that SIU has 5 appearances.
Indiana State will host if TCU beats Arkansas tomorrow. TCU won 20-5 today
Go Sycs! Best MVC team in a while. A few years back, a very good Mo State team was supposed to host the super regional against Arkansas, but because the Springfield minor league team had home games, Arkansas got to host - huge advantage with their rabid fansbase. The Ark. star of that series was Andrew Benintendi, who has turned out to be a MLB All-Star and Golden Glover.
Hope the Sycs get home field.
Trees have to go on the road despite TCU winning

What an embarrassment for ISU.
You have a chance to host a Super Regional for the first time in your program’s history and you let this happen?
I would be furious if SIU let something like this go down.

what would you like them to do cancel the special Olympics. It’s not an embarrassment in any way shape or form. It’s just bad luck

Find additional accommodations. Recruit more staff.
I have a hard time buying that in a town the size of Terre Haute both events can't be pulled off over the same weekend.
Did you read the article ? There are not enough hotel rooms. Cant really create those

Completely agree. I'd bust my balls to make the first Super Regional ever for ISU happen at home. Terrible Haute is an hour's drive from Indy. Hard to believe they couldn't find the personnel to do this. They could even play a game in Bloomington, IN - an hour away - if needed. (IU is done for the season)
Special Olympics schedule - don't see any event that requires Bob Warn field:

This was a money decision. I expect them to be two and out at TCU.

Kentucky had a similar issue with accommodations this past weekend when they hosted their regional. They put teams up in campus dorms.
It's possible there are regulations that I'm not aware of, but if not, it seems like ISU bowed out due to the effort/cost that would be required.
