- Home opener tomorrow Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. against that stupid looking Billiken. Supposed to be sunny and in the 60s and not much wind.
Mike Reis will be calling the game:

Salukis home opener is not going well…
Better hope the pitching improves quickly somehow or it is going to be a loooooong year
Absolutely pounded by SLU starting in the 1st inning.
I have to say I was surprised this team was picked to win The Valley. We lost by far our best pitcher in Noah Farmer and we also lost JT Weber who set the single season record for home runs and was a heck of a player for us. The reliever Steidl is back and I believe he was all conference but I have to say I was never that impressed with him. He throws sidearm and that can be difficult for some hitters.
Last year I thought pitching was our weak spot other than Farmer.
We picked up 2 junior college or transfer pitchers who were considered good gets, but our pitching not been very good so far.
Need to get better in a hurry - schedule gets tougher.
The Ohio Bobcats are here for a weekend series starting Friday.
In game 1 of the DH, scoreless into the 5th, we take a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the 5th, give up 4 in the 6th and 4 in the 7th, right now it's 11-9 in the bottom of the 8th
EDIT 11-9 SIU
EDIT: Tying run at 2nd for Ohio with 2 out top 9
EDIT: SIU wins
SIU beats Ohio 11-9 in game 1 of a doubleheader. Pitching remains terrible
Man, if our pitching was even vaguely approaching competent...
Dermondy pitched great in game 2. We go for the sweep against the Bobcats at noon today.
Nice Sweep this weekend. Keep rolling Dawgs!
Back to .500. SIU Jr. Tuesday in Eville, then Kentucky comes in for 3 games starting Friday.
That's absolutely terrible! After a great deal of pre-season optimism, this team is underachieving. This isn't going to win an MVC Championship....nor should it.
Sounds like the issue is pitching, moreso in the late innings.
Just an offbeat thought with the pitching since there is no spring training like the pros maybe early season is being used to develop the pitching because the important thing would be to win the conference tournament as there won't be an at large bid coming if last year is any indication of the committees thought process as in all sports the power 5 gets the benefit of the doubt and the little sisters of the poor get the crumbs and complain
You know sacrifice early for long term gain
