I'm not big on D2 transfers. I don't think you're ever going to find a real stud going that route. Someone would have to be really overlooked.
If this kid has interest from Drake and Loyola, then that seems to be a reason why we should also be looking at him, which of course we are. If he has 3 years of eligibility and makes an instant improvement to our offense, then I can live with the fact that he started out his college career at a D2.
Hornecker and Amarillo are on to the Regional Finals. They can go to State with a win tonight
But Summit’s hot shooting in the first half didn’t carry over into the third quarter. And Amarillo’s massive size advantage limited Summit’s second chances. Amarillo outrebounded Summit, 31-14, led by 6-10 center Cade Hornecker, who finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Damonze Woods, a 6-7 UT Arlington commit, had 12 points and nine rebounds.
@salukiworld Good to hear. SIU could have used his 14 points and 13 boards yesterday. Are any of these games livestreamed?
Looks like Hornecker's season is over. 9 points in a 68-59 loss
Cade is looking like a young Larry Bird.

Well spoken for a HS student.

I always lean toward the shorter measurement.
Why players' heights are so often exaggerated is beyond me.

Interesting................. He's built at 6'5" 220lbs. He can score, but shot only 54% from the FT line (for a guard) and, in both years at EKY had more turnovers than assists. That being said, those other schools recruiting him are no joke.

I'd take this kid in a heartbeat. You can't teach athleticism. We can work on the skill

6’0 G. Not a big fan of getting another D2 transfer.
Back in the fall Southern seemed to be recruiting St. Louis point guard Brian Taylor, who played for Kent Williams' squad (De Smet). Taylor ended up committing to Milwaukee, who fired its coach last week. Not sure if the coaching change could get Southern back in the mix, if SIU would still be interested, etc., but just caught my eye.
Considering there should be some urgency to win next year, I'm thinking it's more likely they bring in a transfer PG (portal or JUCO), but I'm sure they're still tracking a few high school options.

Yeah with one spot open right now, guessing they're only looking at transfer candidates right now. If a spot or two opens up though, I'm sure they'd be willing to take in a 2022 HS guy. But I really think this team needs more than 1 impact transfer.
SIU has to find a legit point guard for next season. A guy that can take care of the basketball and direct the offense. We had WAY TOO MANY turnovers this past season. SIU also has to find another legit scorer. If consistent scoring rests on Jones and Domask again next season, it's going to be another long season.
