Agree. I think we need two impactful newcomers to this current squad. Although I love the type of players BM has recruited in terms of their mentality and their toughness, I still think we need an upgrade in overall talent level. I agree with many of you who have said we need a bona-fide point guard and an athletic wing for this coming year. I emphasize this because I do think MD and LJ are more than capable players who could be two parts of a championship team, but they need help. Who knows if next year will be their last. I think they will have an extra year (covid) and I think they would be more apt to stay if they had a credible supporting cast coming back with them.
So, as much as I like the type of players we have, lets aggressively go after a J. Williams type of athlete along with a stud point guard. It would be a shame to not even contend for a title with MD and LJ.
If SIU only has one scholarship, they better find a legit point guard that can hang onto the ball and direct the offense. That has been missing. In my opinion that's a HUGE gap in SIU's lineup. Way too many turnovers with this current team.
I’d be flabbergasted if at least one additional scholarship doesn’t open. It’s still early. As has been mentioned a time or 20, this roster isn’t one player away from getting to a championship level.
We'll see. I agree this team is more than one player away, but having a floor general is a necessity and a step in the right direction. Don't believe SIU takes a step forward without securing this player. Hope it happens.
I think we all, or most of us, agree that we're probably 2 really good players away from jumping to the "next level" but the fact remains there is currently only 1 available scholly. Recruiting over existing players is a VERY delicate matter to say the least, especially when you're trying to 'build a culture'.

I get the point, but so far I'd say the staff has made a lot more progress on the culture-building than the talent-bringing-inning. Might be time to close that gap a bit. 😀
And again, the offseason is young. Another scholarship or two could very well open naturally as guys think through their options for playing time, Harvey's health situation plays out further, etc.

We are definitely on the same page. I have said multiple times that this staff needs to improve in recruiting more athletic higher level talent, especially when other rival MVC schools are going after the same players.
Wofford transfer guard Max Klesmit hasn't even been in the transfer portal 24 hours, but his phone is ringing off the hook. Since Wednesday, Klesmit has heard from Wisconsin, Iowa State, Butler, Texas, Georgia Tech, Loyola (IL), Santa Clara, Southern Illinois, UW-Green Bay, and Davidson.

Looks like SIU has reached out to Valpo transfer Sheldon Edwards. That would be very interesting.
