I think Mason is a player we had interest in before he committed to Oklahoma. Any Porter Moser connection is worth noting now that he’s out of the Valley:

Interesting name popped up from K-State. Seryee Lewis out of Chicago. Didn’t get a ton of run his Freshman year and tore his ACL before this year, but was a 3 star coming out his freshmen year (6’9” 215). I believe we were recruiting before the big boys came calling.
With the injury you may be taking a flyer on him, but he fits the long athletic 4 to a T.

6-0 Junior from Manchester, CT. Averaged 4 assists per game last year

Yep, our entire staff is following him on Twitter.
Not to be one to complain about the recruiting of future Salukis and knowing we could probably use a good point guard but other than a couple of JUCO recruits who have size the majority of pg seem to be in the 6 foot range I think we need to be bigger at this position in my opinion we have too many small guards already

Tore his ACL in mid to late September, so he probably couldn't go full speed at practice until fall. Would be a good get if he fully recovers, but it would be a struggle to get him up to speed by the start of the season.

Where they rank on EvanMiya's transfer portal list:
I've added a few names since and taken off a few it looks like we might be out on. Non D-1 guys like Minor and Moore aren't included obviously. And remember, we're likely after more than the names we've heard.

NCAA Basketball: Top mid-major players in 2022 offseason transfer portal (bustingbrackets.com)
As bad as it's been for the Valley with the transfer portal we've been able to most keep our top talent so far (outside of Terry Roberts and the Murray State guys). The MAC has been decimated. Ohio is a good program that won a Tournament game last year and lost their two best players. Akron won the MAC and lost their best player.

Antonio Reeves, Noah Carter and a couple of the Belmont guys also were significant hits.
It's always been rough for non-power leagues, and only getting rougher. Grateful that Southern is doing better than most under Mullins at keeping key guys around. Hopefully that pays off starting next season.

Reeves makes sense with the coaching change. Noah Carter though, definitely a loss. Feel like he's this year's Liam Robbins or Joe Yesufu where he had a bit of success in the Valley but won't see that type of success at the high major level.

I think Yesufu could have had pretty good success at most power programs - he just picked Kansas, which was national champion-caliber elite. He's quite talented, though. Curious if he sticks around at Kansas or tries another spot looking for more of a role (though I think he'd have to sit since it would be his second transfer).
Well shucks. Maybe paying college athletes was not such a good idea after all, eh?
