You are grossly overstating ISU’s portal gets. The three total Ave 9.8 pts last year. Banks is not a starter and the IL kid never played. Their portal gets are not game changers.

Foster from Monmouth is a pretty good grab.
It’s getting embarrassing. C’mon THE SIU, get it together! This program deserves some damn talent too!
--Insert something witty here--
I get that it is frustrating, I am frustrated and worried too but until the roster is filled with bad recruits the opportunity to add good ones remains. Still tons of talent out there. Whether it happens in March or May is really irrelevant. I too am worried, but it's not over. You are grossly overstating ISU’s portal gets. The three total Ave 9.8 pts last year. There’s not really a ton of talent out there right now (compared to a few weeks ago) and the talent still out there, I haven’t seen connected with SIU.
If SIU were to go out and get 4 of the top 14 players on my list right now, I’d still probably have them as a bottom 5 or 6 team in the Valley and under .500.
@salukiworld A lot depends on the unknowns on the current roster, but that could be the case. I also think every other valley team work in the portal is a tad overstated. Let's see how it all looks on the floor, preseason rankings these days are for schmucks. Ask Marquette and Kansas State.
Some confirmation that Josiah Allick did visit. I don't know if he broke his leg on his SIU visit? No word on that in the article.
The former 2019 standout at Lincoln North Star officially visited NU during the football spring game weekend of April 21. He also visited San Diego State and Southern Illinois.
This one remains a bit of a head scratcher. Nebraksa seems to be in a similar situation as SIU was last year withe regards to having too many players to give minutes too. Someone is going to be playing a lot less minutes whether that's new guys or legacy players. I get that they are in the B10 but man, SIU would offer huge PT and a chance to be a star. To each their own.

There are still probably 600-1000 players available in the portal, and plenty of talented players left.
I think you need to go see a few more games in the BIG or other conferences where these guys are playing to appreciate how attractive the opportunity is. It's not just playing @ Nebraska, though they're thought to be on the rise (have to prove it), you get to play in Assembly Hall, Crisler Center, etc. before 20,000 fans on TV. Plus your chances of sneaking into the Tournament on an iffy BIG team vs. having to win the tournament in the MVC?
Roll the dice on BIG.

OK, but I would contend it might well be a better experience for the player to start at SIU and potentially average double figures and make a name for himself than be a fringe rotational player at Nebraska or Minnesota or wherever. Not talking about this kid in particular, but I don't think it's always in a player's best interest to play in the biggest conference he can. Case by case.

Exactly !!!! I'd much rather be an integral (lead) part of a team than possibly be a player who gets minimal minutes (perhaps during a blowout), even if the team gets to the tournament. I guess we're all wired differently though.

Not sure why we are assuming Allick will not have much of a role at Nebraska. They lost Walker and will need to replace his mins. He will play plenty there.
I'm not assuming he will, just that it will not be guaranteed like it would at SIU. There will be players there that will not be happy with sitting a LOT more than they're used to and like. Not sure if Allick will fall into that category, but that wouldn't have even been a concern if he came here. Good luck to him though.

I am just not sure I agree that he would play THAT many more minutes here than at Nebraska. We have a few guys fighting for mins at the 4/5 spots. Rupert, Ebube, Hornecker, D'Amico, and I think Davis play some 4 as well. I am all for getting the young guys some run in a rebuilding year. We needs guards more than anything
