This is all per an article on RJ:
RJ McGee lost his father pre-season last year. Took two weeks off to be with family and came back in time for a pre-season game. During the season his Aunt and uncle also died. This kid had a rough 12 months. But by the time their conference tournament was a week away, he came up big in back to back games leading into their tournament.
The kid says his game is not all talent, but rather he out hustles his opponents.
Sounds like a possible fit for Southern.
Tulane message board liked his defense and hustle last year. Also seemed to think he’d transfer closer to home so SIU makes a lot of sense

Just glad to see a recruit mentioned after weeks of nothing. It’s June and summer school ain’t far away.
I see some potential for McGee to help, though I do find it interesting that some who were downplaying losing Kennedy would be enthused about a guy who has been less productive/accomplished.

Kennedy = 4 year bench player and only 1 year of eligibility. Oh and he's 6'1".
McGhee = 2 years remaining and would have started more had it not been for personal issues (based on what I've read). Much taller at 6' 5".
I am NOT saying that McGhee is better as I have no idea. I'm just responding to your reasonable question.
I think McGee would be coming in as a grad transfer with 1 year to play because he’s played 4 full seasons already. I know ESPN lists him as a Junior but his history says that’s wrong

My bad

Not your fault, I’ve seen ESPN screwed up for a lot of players, guessing the extra COVID year is screwing with it. I think Tulane listed him as a Sophomore twice.
Seems like RJ would be a nice fit to any MVC team. 6”5 and a good defender. I’m tired of playing midget ball over the last three years as many times we had 3 players 6”2 and under on the floor.

Jovan Stulic, a Little Rock portal guy mentioned previously in this thread, has liked about 6-7 Saluki basketball related posts this past month or so, including this one, so he’s either still in the mix with Southern or it’s just a weird thing that means nothing. 😆
Since when did the DawgPound start tweeting out pictures of recruiting visits? They may have some inside information and given approval 😃
But WHY does the Green Wave have blue uniforms??????

That sure seems like "we're hard up and we're begging you".
I don't like it.

Nice sleuthing.
