Kentucky Country Day HS class of 2024/ 3.3 GPA/6’2 Dual threat QB/ 4.41 40yd dash
@salukis60 This kid has got 'receiver' written all over him.
I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!
@salukis60 can we be a little more level-head when we say “had offers from [insert D1 program]…” with all do respect, you don’t get an “offer” from Kentucky but then chose SIU. I’m glad we got this kid, and hope he pans out, but he wasn’t offered by an SEC program and then just decided to come here. It makes us look like a low football-iQ fanbase when we talk like that.
@DawgHog75 If you are referring to Jak Lindsey, 247Sports, Rivals and ESPN all reported that Lindsey received offers from Kentucky and Indiana among others so either they are all wrong or you haven't done your homework.
@salukis60 I’m absolutely referring to them, and the recruiting industrial complex that fabricates hype. I’m sure he went to camp, maybe was hosted on an official visit, and got a verbal his Jr. Year but there is no way no how he received an official scholarship offer (in writing) from the University of Kentucky and still chose to come to SIU over them. That’s laughable and you thinking it happened makes you laughable.

You sure about that? Louisville paper considered him one of the top 20 players in KY. Lindsey reported he had offers Jr. year from Ky., E. Ky, Miami O, and Indiana. 3 star recruit by 247 sports.
It's entirely possible that a player might consider his chances of playing early at a big school like KY and choose a welcoming place like The SIU! Might have not liked a huge school. Might have loved SIU's beautiful campus. SIU might be closer to home than Lexington (it is). Might have liked the reception from players and coaches. Might have eaten a Quatros Challenge while here. Might like to bass fish and saw campus lake. Might like a certain academic program, blah, blah, blah.
I think if these recruiting sites routinely blatantly lied about recruits, they would lose credibility and business.
@mr_woogers sir, with the upmost respect, this is profoundly ignorant, and an indication of your less-than-zero knowledge of the recruiting landscape. You clearly have no access to college athletics. I’ve camped on Kroger Field (what it is now called) and played at McAndrew…I can honestly say, there is NO, ZERO, 17-year-olds in the country that wouldnt chose Lexington over Carbondale (and I love Carbondale). Also, the fact he chose SIU over the other D1 non5 conference schools (EKU, Louisville, WKU), like, what!? No, he did not like our “culture” or our “lifestyle” or our “pizza”. He just wasn’t good enough to play in the SEC…or the MAC…or Conference USA…or the Sunbelt! Look, no insult for this kid. I hope he is good and I KONW he’ll love his time in cdale, but let’s not lie to ourselves and tell him he’s something he’s not. Doing so is a disservice to our fanbase and, honestly, him. This is why no one respects our fanbase…because we say stupid stuff like “he came Carbondale for Quatrio’s” over D1, BCS, SEC Lexington, Kentucky
@dawghog75 people literally transfer down for playing time from power 5 schools. See Barret Benson. I have no inside info on anything, but just because you wouldn’t do something doesn’t mean others won’t. I have a feeling too 100 recruit AJ Green a Northern Iowa got power 5 offers. Real ones.
@kyle_saluki_17 siu will never be with a legit fanbase like with nonsense. SEC fan boards at least have football IQs

Evidently you have no sense of humor - the Quatros remark was meant to be funny. But speaking of profound ignorance, anyone who knows 18 year olds realizes their brains are not yet fully developed and they just might make such a decision for the silliest (to a mature person) of reasons. If he's good enough to play at SIU and has lots of offers, he's almost certainly good enough to play in the MAC. That league has been really weak recently.
The fact that you are positively 100% sure about this youngster and are projecting your psyche on every 18 year old football player with an FBS offer tells me that ignorance evidently isn't exclusively mine. Unlike you, I'm not 100% sure about anything without rock solid evidence, and I certainly don't pretend to know what goes on in the brain of every 18 year old football player - just speculating.
And until recently, Kentucky has been a basement dweller in SEC football. It's a basketball school - always has been.
Also, your tendency to think in generalizations and stereotypes is ignorant. "No one" respects SIU's fan base? You sure about that? Where's the evidence? You are projecting. Classic psychological defense mechanism.
@mr_woogers I’m embarrassed for you. This is not how college football works. You’re making SIU’s fan base look ignorant. Please just stop posting.
