Nevermind, Baptiste landed at Massachusetts. He will be playing against our Dawgs in Vegas in November! Hopefully Pippen and Bol can handle him!
He won't play us.....doesn't graduate and join UMass until December.....we play them in November. Doubt it will make any difference though.....Barry will find a way to lose this game without his participation.
Thanks! Didn't even read my own first post!
I'm a saluki through and through but seriously, why would a vanderbilt graduate come to siu?
Any Dembele news?
this could happen
A note that 6-11 Aaron Twist of JALC signed with Purdue Northwest--a D-2 team. Congrats to him.

It's near--
Sekou Dembele (6-8, 230) is in school now---he's on siu person search as a marketing major--as far as I know he is a 2018--hope so at least
That would add some key depth and bode well for the future.

Could there be an eligibility issue since there has not been an "official" announcement adding him to the roster?
I don't know for a fact--but getting internationals in the University and NCAA right seems a bit more time consuming---but he is at the university. And D. Beane was on siu person finder a long time before allowed to practice---I have no info on that.
However, It's been rumored that J. Beane has not as yet achieved full eligibility but that he is enrolled at the university and attending classes on his own dime--and will get a 2019 scholie--yet he is still listed on the official roster--so, apparently things occur according to an agenda unknown to most fans. I have a feeling something will be said on both the Beane and Dembele subjects in a week or two
I had forgotten that in Fall 2016, the NCAA reinstated a version of the old "partial qualifier" classification--where a recruit cannot play in games but can get aid and practice--it's called "Academic Redshirting" now so non-full qualifiers still can enroll, get aid and practice for a season with fully eligible roster members--the key differences between Academic qualifiers and academic redshirts are core GPA (2.30 or above to 2.00) and the composition of the 16 core courses--wonder if either Dembele or J. Beane are one of those OR Dembele is going to be a full qualifier??
You can get the full 4 years of eligibility as a academic redshirt IF you show progress toward graduation by your 3rd eligible year (4th total year st the university)

Officially announced. Eligible this season.
Great news
Redshirted if Bol is healthy, back-up Pippen if not? Or just let him be back-up for both?

I believe only 2 of the 4 freshmen will red-shirt, Beane not being one of those.
