I'm sure Swope, Conwell and Avila will soon follow. I'm not sure if Bledson has a covid year left or not. If so, he would surely follow Schertz too. That's probably SLU's starting lineup next year....https://twitter.com/portal_updates/status/1777708584152773048?s=46&t=7s0hTttieSER8wqRSA0LoA

I wonder if the new staff is recruiting Damarco Minor out of the portal via SIU-E. The Mullins staff had interest in him out of JUCO and he's a Chicago area kid. He averaged around 15 ppg at Edwardsville and is very quick/athletic, so might be a good fit for Nagy's uptempo system. Southern certainly needs starting-caliber guards.
Before Nagy was hired, looks like Murray, Utah State, Rhode Island and several others had reached out to him.
Good news------ and if he could add Kennard,Troy, and Cade think where we would be!

Troy is committed to DePaul
Avila to the portal soon. I get it with the coach leaving, but even if Schertz was still the coach, ISU blue would have been lucky to retain 2 of those guys. I don't know how anyone looking at this through the eyes of what is best for college basketball as a whole can view the NIL and portal as a good thing for the game (don't get me wrong, the players should be able to make money). They need to get some guard rails up and fast.
- Salary Cap (hard cap would be great, but soft cap with penalties paid over a certain amount would work).
- Some sort of compensation for the smaller schools who get poached every year (similar to soccer when buying/selling players or buy outs like they have in coaching contracts).
- Players union (collective bargaining)
- Contracts via the school, stop pretending this isn't pay for play. Bring NIL in house.
Josh Schertz is definitely a wonderful coach. But marketing yourself along with your current players (and bringing them to your new school) is certainly not the intent of NIL and the portal. They’ve let this run loose.

Disagree. Coach left, players that originally committed to that coach are extremely loyal to that coach and decide to follow him. I don’t see this being an NIL/portal problem.
According to College Basketball Report, Avila to add his name soon.
