Again, these coaches think their stuff smells like roasted barley & cascade hops./ What happened to the previous coach is ancient history and likely not the same AD that hired the previous guy, so... it's all amber waves of grain and fresh sparkling spring waters under a bright sun & blue skies for the new coach and his new boss.

Still gotta see how he works the portal and NIL, but he’s got a lot of people in the coaching industry who vouch heavy for his X and O knowledge. Good sign.

I was just telling my better-half about this whole saga and the flight-tracking and the.... ....and that the Wisconsin guy didn't pan out but maybe we finally settled on this guy from Wright State. She asked how big is this airplane and did the coaches wife also make the trip to visit Carbondale. I told her Lane's wife didn't make the move and he recently interviewed for the NMSU gig, she's still upstairs laughing...

I wouldn't get hung up on some "coach in waiting" framing.
If Nagy comes in and wins at a high level, and there's a younger guy on staff who is well thought of, when Nagy steps down, he'll get a good look. If not, they'll reboot.
Ya'll act like 57 is one-foot-in-the-grave age. He's got at least a good 15 years left in his coaching career.
