5 minutes in and Illinois State clearly looks like the better team. I'm NOT saying SIU will lose, because I think they have a shot at winning one, if not both, of these games. Just saying so far Illinois State looks like the better team.

They, like every other team in the valley just have superior athletes.
Filewich is almost always the stand-out player for SIU early in games. Has 6 points, 4 rebounds at the first half under 12 media timeout.
Can we stop playing D’Avanzo yet?
Oh look easy drive past our defenders, kick to a wide open 3 in the corner. D’Avanzo awful. Another game, same story.
Filewich has been so much better than anticipated this season. He's STRONG, his footwork is advanced for a freshmen and he is an excellent passer with good court vision. And yet this team continues to settle for 3pt shots when they are not a good 3pt shooting team. Do we not have an analytics coach on the staff?

This is so pathetic. Those of you that think things are going to be okay, please explain how. These players aren’t good enough.
Outside of Filewich, really the only positive I have so far is Horne and Reeves have 2 fouls each. But Illinois State's bench players are still outplaying SIU's starters.
Filewich looks good. Rest... not so much. If you had told me before the season that at this point of the season the offense would be running through Filewich, I would have really been surprised.
I was impressed with D'Avanzo after his first few games, but his body of work since then ... yikes. A substantial chunk of his struggles appear they're from the neck up. I hope he can return to early season form as we're all trying to figure out what next years roster and playing time division could look like, because at present, he shouldn't be relied upon for heavy minutes next season.

They’re wide open just like every other team we play.
These dudes walk past our defense, shoot over our guys, our muscle our guys. We have to go get some wings that can keep up athletically or this just isn’t going to work.
