I like the thought of Beane Sr. Coming back to secure the Beane's and I'm pretty sure he recruited Chris Payton. But I understand if he wants to start fresh.

The only "for sure," is his brother, Brendan.

Outside of him, I'd like to see him reach out to Tony Young, Kyle Smithpeters and any other experienced individual he's come across in the last decade that he knows will help him in this process.

And I understand if Mullins wants to start fresh and get his guys too, even if it means losing Darius and Jimmy.

losing two guys, in the big picture, is not going to break us. It's very unlikely that we will ever see payton here no matter who is on staff. bryan is highly respected and knows a lot of good coaches. relax and let him do his job. let the pieces fall where they fall

I’m not quite sold on Tony Young...wasn’t he fired from ESTL high school?

Smithpeters is a must at top assist given he could give us 2-3 starters right away plus all of his connections. Could groom him in case of an early Mullins departure. He’s coached in valley and juco for quite sometime.

Only problem I have with the brother Brendan is that he only has the same connections as Bryan, which consists of Illinois wolves. And the wolves aren’t what they used to be. We don’t gain anything with Brendan.

Maybe keep Beane....not certain on him.

Id keep Clancy as well just because kids/recruits/boosters love him.

Any other options out there?

Someone with St Louis area connections would be helpful.

He got suspended and quit. A malcontent videotaped him in the locker room exhorting his players to kick azz!  He Was doing a great job too. He's now the HC at Marmion Academy near Chicago. Spent several years as an assistant to Majerus at SLU. Terrific player, tough, tough defender and really good at stealing the ball. Won the big school State Championship at Schaumburg High. Loved his "take no prisoners" attitude. I think he would make an outstanding assistant coach.

Can you imagine having to scrimmage against Mullins and Tony Young in practice?  😮

Guessing some assistant news will start filtering out next week. Looking forward to hearing who’s onboard ... it’ll likely be a young staff overall, but you’d think there would be at least one veteran guy in the mix, whether Beane or someone else.
