I am really surprised the staff hasn’t been finalized This roster is extremely thin and we need players. Has to be extremely tough to go out and recruit with only 2 on staff.
Agree that it would be better to have three on the road and a couple inside busting their butt. That said, its much more important in the big picture , I think, to hire the right people than to be in a hurry. Im guessing Brian and his brother know pretty much everything there is to know about what's going on out there right now and they can handle this short handed period just fine. Finding the right mix, hardworking, grinding, never quit type of assistant is absolutely more important in the long run than getting a couple of guys on quickly who might not have the chemistry or work ethic. But I agree and Im sure they do too that it would be nice if they were already onboard.
I don’t disagree that is important to get the right assistant coaches. Just surprised it hasn’t happened yet . I am elated with the hire. Just eager to get going with the program.
all i know is that it is time to get this bus rolling.
Hinson’s full staff wasn’t publically announced until May 22nd the year he was hired. You’d like to see it done quicker than that but past history shows it’s still early.

Let's not use BBQ as a measuring stick.
Craving a McBride Special!

Yeah I agree, and I think a lot of this wait was because of Beane Sr. There's a good chance a lot of the staff was in place long before this.
Thanks to 69 we can say Clancy won’t be back
Clancy has updated his Twitter bio to remove SIU. Now says "college basketball coach"

Darius Beane also removed "SIU Basketball" from his bio...
Will be somewhat surprised if he keeps Clancy. Also doubt Smithpeters gets the job.
Then you'll be double surprised.
Well Apparently not gonna be surprised. :)
Sounds as if a purge might be coming. Hate to see promising young players leave, but these things happen when a culture needs to be changed. I trust Bryan Mullins and the process.
--Insert something witty here--
There were only a handful of players in the entire BBQbarry years that I thought were really talented. BBQbarry's recruiting was always second/third tier in my book. I don't like the idea that these young men will be asked to step aside. Having said that, I would much rather have Bryan's recruits than BBQbarry's.
I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!

Better to thin the herd of players who really don't want to work hard now. because I can only imagine how hard Mullins practices will be!
Watching players at Missouri in the 80's they shot 10 free throws at the end of practice, miss 3 and run the steps to the top of the stadium and back to shoot 10 more.
Hearing Mullins talked to every player, I bet it was something similar to this "You aren't a hard working recruit, you are going to sit on the bench, what will you do about it?"
(maybe I am too cold hearted)

Culture is so big in college sports. It’s what deteriorated the most at Illinois and it’s why the rebuild there has been difficult. Cutting the fat and building from the ground up is okay in my book. I honestly don’t care if they win a game next year.

Hinson didn't leave a whole lot to purge anyway.
