I hope Loyola enjoys all that extra travel expense heading halfway across the country.
I just hope they lose to Chicago state 😁
Some pretty detailed reporting about the MVC's likely options going forward:> https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/missouri-valley-conference-loses-loyola-chicago-but-pursuing-murray-state-ut-arlington-and-kansas-city/

I really hate the UTA addition. Probably not as much as the UNI and Valpo people do, but I think it's a bit of a head-scratcher.

I don't really get it either. I think the new commissioner has a thing for planting the MVC flag in Texas for whatever reasons. UTA is not even especially close to Missouri State (which probably has one foot out the door anyway), let alone the rest of the league, and throwing darts at urban schools with minimal on-court success or fan support doesn't often come up Loyola.
When Loyola came in, it seemed like a majority were wondering why the MVC would want a "lesser" team in the valley, so I hesitate saying this, BUT................. UMKC and UT Arlinton sure seem like a stretch to help the Valley improve both metrically as well as from a perception stand point.
I still like South Dakota State as an addition

The Valpo people have no room to hate any addition. The worst these schools can do is offer nothing at all, which would be equal to what Valpo offers.

UTA and UMKC would be added for the Dallas/Arlington & Kansas City markets with the expectation their programs would improve dramatically like Loyola did once they join the valley. From a recruiting and tv standpoint it makes some sense.

I could not agree more. Heck, add both SDST and NDST.

Obviously Loyola is miles ahead of Valpo, especially with the current regime at Valpo, but when Loyola joined the MVC, there was similar eye-rolling. And here we are . . .
Like it or not, Valpo and UNI are members of this conference, and I'm guessing the addition of UTA will suck for them. Hell, it sucks for us, for that matter.

How about Chattanooga? Then teams can take road trips for the Tenn teams?
The Sun Belt just added Marshall, Southern Miss, Old Dominion, and James Madison. The Conference is clearly focused on football. Only two members, UALR and UTA, do not play football. The MVC appears to be a better fit for both UALR and UTA, and believe that the Sun Belt would offer no resistance to this move, and in fact, "encourage" the exit.
What about Wisconsin Milwaukee?
Loyola can kiss my A$$. Good riddance, Sister Jean
Big Mistake for Loyola.
