I hate to see bbqBarrys recruits transfer. It has to be difficult on them personally. I wish them all well. But doesn't it seem like the players Bryan has brought in to replace them are heads & shoulders above them in talent? I don't care if we even win a game next year. I am anxious to see what Bryan's teams will be in 2-3 years.
Yes and yes
Heff's article on Mark William still lists Payton as a member of the team.
Malik William high school highlight video. Ranked nationally top 200 recruit by 247sports.
William passes like a quarterback on outlet passes from the post! Good timing on blocks!

It's funny how lowered expectations work. If BH had landed this kid, I would have been freaking out with excitement. Now that we have a real coach, doing real hard work to get proper recruits, I find myself thinking "OK, cool...next!"
In just two months Mullins has demolished the lowered expectations of the Hinson years.

He still is and until he gets an official release you probably won’t see otherwise.
Hefferlump also said Jimmy and Darius were on board

That’s what blew my mind these last seven years. That people were okay with Hinson for whatever reason. He never earned our trust, ever.

To be fair Lance is a BBQ recruit and I am quite excited we have him
Oh, don't get me wrong: I know there were a few decent recruits during the Hinson years, and no doubt Mullins, like any coach, will bring in some duds.
The point is that pretty much every kid Mullins is bringing in would have been a major (and surprising) "get" in a BH recruiting class, and just two two months in, it seems normal to land kids who aren't--to say the least--questionable or unknown. I am grateful that I no longer have to spend the bulk of my time devoted to SIU hoops wondering whether the most recent recruit is, in fact, better suited to NAIA or D2, yet still try to muster some enthusiasm (Fall, Shafer, Setty, Rudy, etc.--the list goes on and on).

I'm going to leave this right here.
I'm going to leave this right here.
There's gonna be a JUCO program out there that's gonna get a really talented player

Well maybe. He did not play most of his senior year so this ranking is ridiculous
I’m sure his evaluation comes more from AAU than HS Sr year, just saying.
either way he’s not gonna play in an SIU uniform so we are all wasting precious internet space....
Everyone will have misses when bringing in players. Mullins has been great in a short recruiting season. Barry had multiple players who made conference teams and plenty of talent by the end of this year to be successful (I only grade the last 4 years of Hinson because of state of academics following Lowery). Strategy and in game management will be the difference now. Barry’s offense/coaching style was a decade plus outdated and ineffective.

Barry had enough quality players who bailed on him to field a couple of NCAA tournament teams. When was the last time we had a player sign (Malik William), who turned down UCONN? Mullins has done an extraordinary job of recruiting. I couldn’t be any more impressed.
