Just wondering if recruiting is ongoing now that we're nearing the end of summer to fill slots for this year's team (2019.) With athletes still entering the transfer portal and so forth, is the thinking that we keep looking or save the scholarship for next year?

We are always recruiting but, it’s getting pretty late to accomplish any more for this year.

This guy looks like a project. Minimal playing time for the Illini. Averaged 1.5 pts. But he is 7'1! Looks like he would have to sit out a year.
Samba Kane would be a very nice get! Illinois didn't want Kane to leave. He showed flashes on offense his freshman year and was a good shot blocker on defense. Very fast and very athletic. The Illinois staff were expecting him to play 10-12 minutes a game next year to spell 5 star freshman Kofi Cockburn. I was hoping we would offer. I know Missouri State has interest.

I hate to see SIU throw a scholarship at someone to fill a short term need. I think one or two of the 6'6" - 6'5" guys that SIU signed is going to have to play bigger than they are this season, to spell guys in the post. We're probably going to pay for the lack of depth in that area this season. Hope there's added focus on getting a couple of quality low post players in the next recruiting class.

Looked like a good candidate to replace William with a good possibility of being immediately eligible. Bringing Kenic on would be similar to a JUCO prospect on class balance, but he already has 2 years D1 playing experience.
