I don't know who he's picking but it seems based on social media tea leaves that he at least has considered Southern fairly seriously.
No inside info, but plan to celebrate.
He had a ton of offers coming in and he kept his SIU offer pinned until recently, also is following a bunch of commits and players. I'm guessing we're gonna get him and he'll have the best name in the Valley, besides maybe Chris Cross if he's still here.

High-scoring, small-school kid from the upper peninsula of Michigan. Seems to have a relationship with Dalton Banks.
Here's a recent feature on him: https://www.mlive.com/highschoolsports/2020/06/top-basketball-recruits-foster-wonders-looks-to-seal-iron-mountain-legacy.html
We've seemed like the front runner all along. However, Rice just offered and he seemed fairly excited about it. And yes, I noticed he unpinned his SIU offer. Hope we get him, but Rice is a great school if you have the grades/test scores to get in.

Fingers crossed. Foster Wonders, averaged 27.4 PPG and 7.8 RPG for Iron Mountain last season earning D3 1st Team All-State.

Based on the article, he seems like a wonderful kid and would be a tremendous addition to Saluki Basketball. Hope Mr. Wonders decides to be a Saluki!

Sounds like SIU is the perfect fit for him. He wants a family atmosphere. Hopefully we get good news Monday.
If Wonders commits Monday, for now, SIU would only have one open scholarship left for the 2021 class. The coaching staff is still in on some other very good high school players, including two from the same school (Niles Notre Dame), Troy D'Amico and Anthony Sayles. D'Amico is more of a 4 (could be a replacement for D'Avanzo, who also went to Notre Dame, while Sayles is a guard). Here's a recent story on D'Amico that mentions Southern.

the grid needs an update cuz i'm getting confused, but i don't think we would have any more open scholarships for 2021. Jakolby Long is going to be a senior i think, so he wouldn't impact 2021, however Chris Cross would possibly be on scholarship for his second season which takes one of the open scholarships away. Then if we land Foster Wonders we would be filled up. Im sure, as always, there would be a chance someone will transfer, but as of now, we would be filled...... i think.
Had to edit this cuz i forgot Scottie Ebube, so then by my count we are already full and Wonders would put us one over.

I haven’t seen anything to indicate Cross will be on an athletic scholarship after next year. And I have a hard time thinking they wouldn’t take a kid like D’Amico or Sayles (or an impact transfer, which would also be nice) to make room for Cross, who was not a highly recruited player.
And check your math ... right now there are two seniors plus one open scholarship for this coming season. Ebube and Wonders would still leave one open ride for 2021.
I haven't either, that's why i said he could POSSIBLY be on scholarship for his second season. He is a preferred walk on, so he has been told there is at least a chance. and my math is correct according to the grid. It says we have two open for 2021 and Ebube and Wonders would fill those spots.
Okay, nevermind, i just looked at it again. I was just counting white spots, didnt pay attention to the numbers. The two white spots on there are 11 and 12, there isnt a white spot for 13, so you are right, we'd still need one more.
what happened to Zach Gibson by the way? I must have missed that news.
Didn't they find a sort of workaround for Cross to be in a scholarship-type situation without him actually taking one of the athletic scholarships due to a 'legacy' situation with his family?

Can't you envision the young man scoring 3 or 4 buckets in a quick flurry, and Reis shouting, just go bananas, Foster.
