It looks like we are "reaching out" to everyone that enters the portal...but then so is everyone else.  Wonder what the criteria is to "reach out" or "heard from" is?  Billy from down the street called and said you should look up (name your school) on the web man...  🙂

I would be willing to bet quite a few shillings that unless a kid meets the non-negotiable criteria of being a person of good character the Mullins boys are passing him up!

Character is HUGE.........without mentioning any names, a former coach brought in the highest rated recruits in the school's history and it ultimately brought this program back into the dark ages.   That being said, there ARE plenty of high character kids out there that are also long, athletic, quick, strong, etc.  Here's hoping they land a couple of "those guyses".

You just described Marcus Timmons and Chris Carr!

I'll never forget seeing Carr in person for the first time.  I think it was at an away game vs NIU.  He came off the bench and grabbed a rebound and was seemingly 12' in the air.  My buddy and I looked at each other and said, "did you see that?".   TImmons was such a silky smooth player and good passer for his size.  Such great memories !!!!

I remember well a home game against Illinois State, I was sitting a few rows behind IL St bench. Carr and Timmons were taking turns posting in paint, jumping straight up, higher than any defender, catching alley oops and dunking them. After it happened the third or so time Kevin Stallings turns to one of his assistants with outstretched hands, shaking his head, you could read his lips saying “we can’t stop that”.

I personally feel that the fact that we're having to wait to hear any news is GOOD news.  I think if the team sentiment was that players wanted OUT, we would have heard plenty of news by now.  I definitely see 2 players leaving at minimum but for their own and the team's benefit.  I'm guessing we'll be hearing about these departures in the next few weeks.  Then I'm looking forward to the possibility of major upgrades.

I think the players went home for a "Spring Break".  No idea if they got back to Carbondale yet but I assume there will be meetings with the coaches and we'll get news of possible transfers.  Given how active SIU has been in the transfer market, they seem to know there's going to at least be one defection.

Understood and agreed.  I still feel, however, that it is a good sign for the program that you haven't heard of rumors of 3,4,5+ guys chomping at the bit to get out of here.  I'm hoping it stays around 1-3 players and that the replacements are all major upgrades.

Don't worry.  We're in on plenty of guys.  The staff is going to be very picky with these last two (hypothetical) schollies.  😉
