Waiting on player movement sucks. But atleast were not Bradley or valpo

I personally feel that the fact that we're having to wait to hear any news is GOOD news.  I think if the team sentiment was that players wanted OUT, we would have heard plenty of news by now.  I definitely see 2 players leaving at minimum but for their own and the team's benefit.  I'm guessing we'll be hearing about these departures in the next few weeks.  Then I'm looking forward to the possibility of major upgrades.

I think the players went home for a "Spring Break".  No idea if they got back to Carbondale yet but I assume there will be meetings with the coaches and we'll get news of possible transfers.  Given how active SIU has been in the transfer market, they seem to know there's going to at least be one defection.

Players should be back starting today, usually coach Mullins will meet with each player and discuss their role moving forward. I would look for news on any transfers IF  there are going to be any starting this week.

Last years transfers started on March 21, with B. Gooch, March 24 was H. Francois, March 25 was K. Davis, and A. Cook on March 30.

I would guess the time is fast approaching for decisions to be made.

I wonder if not having a tournament last year "expedited" the announcements. Regardless, I believe we will see our first announcement within 2 weeks.  I'm less interested in who's leaving (since I am confident who it will be) than who we will be signing, although I know you CAN'T have one without the other.

A name like this that hits the transfer portal is always interesting.  Especially when we have had a Mizzou connection in the past with Ronnie Suggs.  Pinson won a championship at Simeon in Chicago.  I expect him to get a lot of interest though:

If this keeps up, we'll have to start posting only players that are NOT transferring.  LOL

VerbalCommits has 794 currently in the transfer portal it's adding a new name every hour.  Crazy SIU still has 0.

This amount of transferring isn't even fun to track. Its an epidemic and if something isn't changed its going to bleed interest from the sport. Hard to believe there's 794 greener pastures out there. Sad.

Agreed. It's bad for the sport and especially bad for the bulk of DI schools outside the power leagues whose top guys increasingly are plundered by the big boy$.

There is definitely a competitive advantage to be had these days for programs with really strong cultures who can retain their top players, and then also have the recruiting wherewithal to pull a couple quality transfers in to supplement that core. Hopefully that's what happens at SIU this offseason.

That is exactly what I was thinking.  I also believe that this is a trend that simply will not continue, at least not at this pace, because teams and players will see that for the non-Power 5 schools, the most success to be had is at the schools that retain their CORE.  This is, at least so far, something I believe Mullins and crew can and will do.
