Third quarter
0:00: It’s been the Keyon Menifield Show through three quarters. The Beecher senior has 31 points, as many the entire Iron Mountain team. Beecher leads 62-31. Menifield, by the way, has no major college offers. Is Tom Izzo watching this game against his former high school team? Menifield is 14-for-21 from the field.
4:31: Beecher 47, Iron Mountain 24. This one is over, boys and girls.
I may have an answer as to why Kenyon Menifield Junior has no major scholarship offers. Coaches may be worried he is like his father, Kenyon Menifield Sr. who brutally assaulted a referee at an AAU game in Paducah Kentucky a couple years ago!

To be clear, I was cutting and pasting from another website.

My comment wasn't aimed at you. Just some general information pertaining to the post you copied. His father was an AAU coach when it happened.

I just read an article that said this kid's father had previous convictions for assault and drug trafficking. How was this guy even associated with this program. I ran youth baseball and football in my town for years. No way no how would this guy be able to have any official contact with the kids. He would not even have been able to work at the concession stand.
I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!

Come on recruiting gurus, when are we getting a commitment ???
Come on recruiting gurus, when are we getting a commitment ???
Everything has kind of gone dead in terms of reaching out to recruits/transfers. There's a lot of options out there, guessing we're waiting for some of the dominoes to fall.
I know it's Hefferman but there's this in his column today:
SIU currently has one scholarship available for the upcoming season, as sophomore guard Eric Butler has also put his name into the portal. Butler played in eight games as a true freshman. Saluki coach Bryan Mullins said he doesn't expect anyone else to put their name in the portal. SIU could return all five starters this winter, and signed three incoming freshmen, guard Foster Wonders of Iron Mountain (Michigan) High School, forward Troy D'Amico from Niles Notre Dame and Mundelein center Scottie Ebub

Dammit that means somebody else is leaving

I fully expect things to clear themselves up within the next 2-3 weeks.

Not sure 🤔 but certain this is sarcasm? Currently we will have 12 + D’Avanzo on scholarship for next year counting the incoming freshmen. That leaves one open scholarship. Yet we haven’t heard about anyone else?
Since Southern only has 1, potentially 2, rides this spring, I’d imagine they’re being quite selective at this point, which is obviously the right approach but might make for a slower path to a commitment.
As we head into Mullins’ third season and with Domask and Jones now upperclassmen and improved depth and young talent around them, this is an important next step or two, recruiting-wise. A key opportunity to make inroads in the Valley will be enhanced if they can add the right experienced piece(s) over the next few weeks.

If no one else leaves we will have more depth at the 5 than we have ever had! That would leave us 4 guys that only play the 5 position, with Muila, Filewich, Ebube and Dembele. None of those players have enough range to play the 4, so I wouldn't expect to see any two of them on the court at the same time. Certainly insulates us some against potential injuries. We need to use the last scholarship wisely. I would expect it to be a grad transfer PG or athletic, long, 3 or 4. If everyone stays and we sign 1 more we will have 14 guys competing for playing time! The talent level and depth will be better with those 14 than we have had in recent memory so some pretty decent players are going to be sitting! A good problem to have, but something the coaches will have to deal with none the less!
