Is anyone else watching "Last Chance U" on Netflix? In the past it has been about JC football. This year it's about JC basketball at East LA College. At least one of the observations is interesting...(and I'm not quoting) : Everyone wants a 6'9" player, because all your opponents have 6'9" players. There is a lot more competition for smaller players 6'0", 6'1", 6,2". They have to be fast, good shooters, good on defense, have good court sense...etc. 6'9" players have to be...well 6'9".

I know it's Hefferman but there's this in his column today:
SIU currently has one scholarship available for the upcoming season, as sophomore guard Eric Butler has also put his name into the portal. Butler played in eight games as a true freshman. Saluki coach Bryan Mullins said he doesn't expect anyone else to put their name in the portal. SIU could return all five starters this winter, and signed three incoming freshmen, guard Foster Wonders of Iron Mountain (Michigan) High School, forward Troy D'Amico from Niles Notre Dame and Mundelein center Scottie Ebub
Dammit that means somebody else is leaving
Not sure 🤔 but certain this is sarcasm? Currently we will have 12 + D’Avanzo on scholarship for next year counting the incoming freshmen. That leaves one open scholarship. Yet we haven’t heard about anyone else?
Yes it was sarcasm. Heff is usually the last to know something 😁
I Am more excited for Foster than I have been for a recruit maybe ever. This kid is a winner on and off the court

By my count, this is the 37th transfer we have reached out to!
Two points:
What excites me most about Foster Wonders is I see a future team leader. I see a kid that teammates can rally around; a voice outside of the coaching staff that can get the most out of his teammates and hates to lose. This is something that has been missing since 2007.
I really hope we can sign a player nearly identical to Donovan Clay. Its too bad he transferred within the conference and didn't end up at SIU. He would've been a damn near perfect fit on this roster.

We're in the final 4 of Tylor Perry. 5'11 point guard out of Fort Coffee, Oklahoma. Averaged 17.9 PPG, 2.5 APG this year on 44.8% FG and 41.5% 3 PT FG as a Sophomore at JUCO.
Looks like he was a 3 star coming out of Springdale, Arkansas:
Man I love SIU but even I might go to Florida gulf coast 😁

Really think we need bigger players. We are already undersized, can’t help but wish for bigger stronger more athletic players on our team for next year.

I don't know if I'd say Southern is undersized, with four bona fide options at the 5 currently on the roster in Muila, Filewich, Ebube and Dembele. That's pretty rugged, particularly assuming Muila is healthy.
Where Southern could use some length and athleticism is at the 4, to offer a more athletic complement to D'Avanzo and maybe allow Domask to play the 3, which would improve Southern's overall length and size. The coaches are definitely pursuing some of those athletic 6-6 types in their spring offers, but they're also clearly not content to just have Jones and Banks as PG options since they're also targeting transfer point guard help.
Will they bring in one more recruit or more this spring? We'll see how it shakes out.

This is the kind of player we need! Athletic forward who can shoot and rebound! I remember him from the ncaa tournament. I am guessing he would step in and start at the 4 for us if he was given immediate eligibility! I don't think he is a grad transfer so he would have to be granted a waiver to play right away.
