Amadou Fall is gone!?
Yes
SIU is going to be in desperate need of low post players for the upcoming season if Fall and Dembele are gone. Right now we have the kid from Northwestern that can play the low post and that's it. No more guards needed at this point.

Says who? The Warriors play Draymond at the 5... Basketball is different now, you do not have to have traditional post players. 6-6 forwards who can stretch the floor are a nightmare for traditional post players to match up with, dictate tempo and force the opponent to adapt to you. The best half of basketball SIU played last year was with Fletch at the 5 against UNI because UNI could not match up with spreading the floor, running, pressuring the ball and shooting 3's. Maybe this is the model that Mullins likes.
How did Loyola construct their team? They have Cameron Krutwig but outside of him, they’ve been very guard heavy. You still need bigs on your team but it’s pretty clear Mullins is recruiting tough-minded guys that can shoot lights out from deep that come from winning cultures, just like Loyola did.
Those who think Mullins can construct a perfect roster between now and next season need to temper their expectations. It’s going to take some time.

We also said that there would be a lot of turn-over this spring on top of the seniors we lost. Some still want to hold on to the narrative pushed by the local newspaper. This is one of the reasons that some of us wanted to make the coaching change last spring. It sure would have been nice to have the new coaching staff beating the streets recruiting last spring and summer trying to offset this year's graduations and defections.
This is a major build and will take time and patience.

If Mullins can heal the sick, part the oceans, surely he can construct a NCAA tourney team within a few months, no ? : )

Poor Heff
Wow - I just looked up the current roster on SIU Athletics and seeing the current roster, without any of the newcomers, with only 5 players was actually somewhat sad. I know this was expected and I'm not saying at all that the players that left will not be replaced by better fits (players), but it still is somewhat sad.

i remember someone here saying in march of 18 that if we didn't fire the coach then that we'd have trouble fielding a team in 19-20. looking at that 5 man roster he looks phophetic. at least the athl director got the job he pined for. we'll get through it but someone made it much more difficult than it needed to be.

My guess is "someone's" hands were tied.

How come you don’t keep Payton on the grid until you hear otherwise? Because right now the roster is full
