Belmont is a good addition for the Valley. They're very well-rounded in terms of sports (not just men's basketball) and have nice facilities. The Curb Event Center where basketball plays is very similar to the Gentile Arena. Also an amazing destination for Valley fans to travel to on weekends during conference season.
Is there any hope they are kicking out Bradley to add Belmont ? I like it at ten teams
12 teams will be a huge improvement for Arch Madness. Instead of the 4 worst teams playing on Thursday, you're going to get the 5-12 seeds with the top 4 seeds getting byes to Friday. I know there are some downsides to adding 2 more teams in terms of splitting tournament revenue but this is going to be a huge improvement to Arch Madness.
For example of a 12 team league conference tournament, here's the Big 10 in 2012:
If Belmont is leaving you would think that Murray is looking too. It'll be interesting to see if they go ahead and add one more. I think this is a pretty good add.
Interesting note from Reis:
Randy Dunn certainly had an input on why Valpo and not Murray State was added last time. With a different President and Chancellor at SIU not sure that SIU would block it now. However I am hearing that the Valley may look to Texas for the next add but don't have a great source that can back that up. SO hopefully the Valley makes the league better with I would think 1 more add and maybe more.
I would prefer a Texas school over Murray State (for recruiting and exposure). It would get SIU’s name out there in a large (academic and athletic) recruiting pool. That said, I’m very excited about the Belmont addition.
I’m not getting any confirmation on this at all. Might be real might be a ploy to get hits who knows.
Sure looks like Murray is going to move, too.
I hope if they go to 12 teams, they do a division setup and 16 game conference schedule.

Given the current situation with scheduling OOC schedules, I'd say there is absolutely ZERO chance that we actually reduce conference games. I'd expect a 20 game conference schedule.
That would be a very poor decision.
The scheduling issue is their own fault to begin with. Mid major coaches whine about no one playing them yet refuse to play eachother in H/H series.

Of course it is 🙄
here is all I got and trust me here it is as good of source as I can get
" it's possible but nothing is imminent. As far as I know Belmont has not received an invitation and it would be costly for them. Last time around they told the Valley to get bent so I am not sold on this. I think Belmont wants out of the OVC and the guy is making an educated guess. I will let you know if I hear anything but I'm doubtful"
I've got a completely unreliable source saying that Murray State is coming as well. I'm 1% confident in this source, but I sure hope it is right. Lol
