Very good news Howard officially was retained. This guys track record is too good for SIU to have ZERO signings last fall. Looking forward to a fresh new recruiting philosophy under Nagy.
Time for me to stalk who likes the announcement on Instagram and Twitter 🤓
Not sure we should be putting as much faith in Jerrance as some on here are.
@foxman24 yep if I had to tell a kid we’re gonna score 85 points a game your gonna score and play a ton. Or we’re gonna score In the 50s play a ton of really physical defense and you won’t score a lot. Which one is easier to recruit too
Article from the Dayton paper:
Biggest click-bait. Didn't mention a damn thing about his reluctance.
But, I'm still shocked why a 57-year-old making $500k a year, with kids and grandkids close, would take this job. I'm guessing he thought that he didn't have much time left in Dayton.
I have been asking this ever since he was announced and said all of his family is at Wright State. Can't believe we got him to move for only an extra $100K....
Mike Reis just posted this on his Facebook. Very good points.
Mike Reis is very open and honest about the situation. We can talk about transfers and who is coming from Wright State and who we are retaining from our previous team. In the end, unless the administrators and administration is going to step up BIG TIME. get the word out to ALL alumni. Mike words are going to be very true and maybe hard to swallow by some.
Yep, unfortunately NIL funding is the most important thing for any D1 college basketball program currently. I hope the admin and coaches start preaching, advertising and soliciting for the NIL in a big way moving forward. I believe donors should consider the contributions they formerly made toward SASF to now go toward the NIL fund. Obviously, there is still a required SASF donation for season tickets, which I pay, but outside of that folks should strongly consider donating to the NIL.Mike Reis just posted this on his Facebook. Do we know who is even in charge of NIL? Is it just development? Most schools have a position specific to NIL like Director of NIL. Maybe it's time they consider that. Development can encompass a lot with donors but NIL is so important we could use just one person for that.
I know Mike’s words carry more weight (as they should), so I hope those who were on the fence or didn’t really buy in to the funding issues take this to heart.
I am angry/sad that the administration hasn’t done much of anything on this front to this point. They put the previous regime at a sizable disadvantage compared to most others in the Valley.
It’s put up or shut up time. If you want to be contenders year in and year out start acting like it and go raise the money and setup your coaches to succeed.

The last sentence has been my problem from the beginning. Don’t get me wrong I will be contributing and hoping the best for Nagy.
The NIL is definitely the most important aspect to deal with now. The practice facility also needs to be addressed in the near future. This would free the Banterra to be used for other events that would add money to the coffers. SLU has many events in the Chaiffetz Center from wrestling to concerts to gymnastic exhibitions. It has been a few decades since I went to Southern, but I saw some great concerts there, most sellouts.

I think this is getting better. They had a GREAT Sam Hunt concert there last August. But I know they are very weird about not wanting teams to practice at Davies so they turn down events at the Banterra Center if there's a practice conflict. So a practice facility would be really nice. Anything they book at the Banterra Center (I'm talking BIG concerts) only shows how great SIU is for recruits! I would even bring recruits on visits when there's a good concert!
I had some GREAT memories of concerts. Eddie Murphy Raw, Bon Jovi, Skid Row, etc.
