He is a wing and the kid from Simeon Antonio Reeves. is higher rated. I like our chances there with his uncle recruiting him for Bryan 😀

Clancy also has a connection to his AAU squad, Young & Reckless...
If you cannot understand an 18 year afraid to come play for guys that are not really the ones who recruited him then you really are helpless. He wants to go somewhere he knows he is wanted and his skill set matches what the coaches who recruited him are looking for. For whatever you think about Barry the kids who committed to him got to know him and his staff and trusted him and his staff, not Bryan and his. It is totally fair for commits to want to go somewhere else and I do not blame them at all. I do not think Taylor was recruited over. He is a good player and had good offers and will contribute elsewhere. Good luck to him, I really cannot blame him.

Basically agree with all this, though I can't help but think Taylor would have had a much better experience at Southern under Mullins than the previous regime. Sorry he's not coming because I do think he has nice potential, but these kinds of things are the price of making a coaching change. Plenty of scholarships for Mullins to start bringing in his own guys over the next year or two and start shaping the roster his way.

Oh, I completely agree his experience would have been better under Mullins. I was just saying that I understand his hesitation and his desire to go elsewhere to someone who he has building a relationship with for years, not a few days.
I’m beyond okay with a high school kid backing out of their commitment after a coaching change. They committed to the previous staff and shouldn’t be obligated to stay if they don’t feel comfortable as a fit with the new staff. I wish Taylor all the best wherever he ends up.
Yeah it’s more work for Bryan but I have full confidence right now that the more scholarships he has open, the better for him.

Taylor was the only recruit of our three commitments that also held an offer from Loyola. Loyola had offered Taylor, (1/29/2018) 7 months after SIU, (7/24/2017), so I'm sure he has known Mullins for several months too.
I still believe that Taylor's commitment to SIU was because of Coach Walker. It was noted in his commitment announcement that Coach Walker was the lead recruiter on him. I doubt that Henson was a big factor in his decision to play at SIU. Taylor may commit to wherever Coach Walker lands.

Bryan is going after some very interesting athletes. Just like we thought he would.
Offering and getting are huge differences. I have faith. Go Bryan

Nice that we are not competing with the likes of SEMO, Eastern Illinois, and St. Martha’s School for the Blind.

Reeves played his Junior year at Shadow Mountain High School in Arizona. Shadow Mountain is coached by Mike Bibby!
"Reeves was a key part of a successful Shadow Mountain team that finished 25-2 on the year, won a state championship and was nationally ranked. Shadow Mountain is coached by former Arizona University great and 14-year NBA player Mike Bibby."

Illinois is now full so they are out
According the Illini board, January didn't qualify and is going JUCO, and Higgs may not be physically able to play anymore. So they're all hot on Woldetensae.

The sad 😢 part is that we would lose out to one of those and Hinson would say gosh darn there a good program.
