So is mullins wrong? He says he is.
Or he is not going to publicly say anything bad about a kid
It's my understanding that if Payton did sign the LOI, and academically qualifies for admission, SIU cannot pull his scholie for at least one year. These LOI's are designed to protect the student. This is another reason for Bryan stating he is still coming. Bryan can't stop him.
We can put conditions on someone that would make them re-think their commitment.
I agree. However, a big concern is that if this kid is as big a tool as I've been told, no other coach may want to touch him. We can't count on there being another coach as bad as BBQbarry. SIU could end up as his only offer.
I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!
If we can hang onto the Beanes and Payton that would be huge.
Trust me, Payton is bad news. He’d prob transfer out anyway if he got good enough.
To be fair he may he a tool. But if he can play ill take him. Sometimes you need a guy who can just ball.

I've seen him play three times. He's good, but he is only a 2star. I think that's a fair rating. If he were a Michael Jordan then I would agree with you.

Any of our recruits a 3 star or above? Im so used to bad barry players

Very nice....
That’s awesome. He’d be a hell of a pickup.
Rivals has got this kid as a 3star. 247sports doesn't even have him rated.

He visited Illinois last month and Wisconsin is listed as interested so my guess is he’s somewhere closer to the 3 stars
FWIW, a ranking site someone posted on mvc-fans showed Payton as the top valley recruit, and it wasn't very close.
Edit: Found it: https://www.prephoops.com/2019-national-rankings/

Salukis have offered 6'6" SF Kendall Lewis from Snellville, GA (via Scott Burgess Prep Hoops and Lewis's twitter). FWIW he's listed as a 3 star athlete.

Lets not get caught up in how many stars a kid has next to his name. It doesn't mean a damn thing.

It does mean something. Just not everything (see Giorgi B from Illinois)

I respectfully disagree with you 100%. As someone who has scouted both baseball and football, having eyes on these kids by people who actually know what to look for means more than a damn thing.
