Rivals has got this kid as a 3star. 247sports doesn't even have him rated.
Lets not get caught up in how many stars a kid has next to his name. It doesn't mean a damn thing.
I respectfully disagree with you 100%. As someone who has scouted both baseball and football, having eyes on these kids by people who actually know what to look for means more than a damn thing.
Yes. But aren't you now arguing that player evaluation is more important than how many stars a player has?
No GB, what I am saying is that ratings are infinitely important to all parties involved. Coaching staffs need a starting point. They simply can't scout every kid at every school. No coaching staff can. So they need parameters met and filters applied. Both tangibles and intangibles. What I mean, in very broad terms, is they require a prospect has a minimum amount in their skill set to warrant their time and resources to scout them. Even doing it on film requires the coaching staff use valuable time. Duke is looking for a higher minimum skill set than SIU. You will rarely see Duke and SIU coaches looking at the same kid. You would see it more if there wasn't a rating already placed on the kid. And how do you get this starting skill set rating? By the scouts. Can a scout be wrong? Of course. Can a player get better, or worse, after being scouted. Of course. This is why the coaching staffs then scout the players themselves.
I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!

Mic Drop
No no no -- no mic drop. Obviously for me this is an interesting topic. I welcome the conversation.

Heff says that today Mullins told him all current Salukis are still on board as are Jones and Payton....
You are reading in to this what you want to read. He didn't say Jimmy would be here.
He said current Salukis. Jimmy is not on the team. He is an SIU student. Any decent reporter would ask what the ambiguous "current Salukis" meant.
Chris is committed. That's true. It doesn't mean he isnt shopping his services.
it doesn't mean he has qualified. It doesn't mean he will show up.
Craving a McBride Special!
SIU offered JUCO guard Ryan Murphy. He originally committed to Washington State but decommitted when their coached got fired. He was with the University of North Carolina at Charlotte for 1 year before going JUCO at New Mexico Junior College and averaged 18.5 PPG.
Hefferman rarely deserves defending, but he did ask Mullins specifically about both Darius and Jimmy, and Mullins reiterated they are returning. So he did that.

i suggest you reread what he posted. it's not that cut and dried. he did not say they are returning. all current salukis are still on board is what he posted. jimmy is an siu student. not a currently on the team. still being on board is not the same thing as they are returning. they might be on the team next season, they might not. not trying to be mean here and i hope they are playing for us next year but you are misstating what was posted.

Actually, Heff did state in another related post both Darius and Jimmy's names specifically. It was posted in another thread. I thought the same initially too until I saw it.
I know its a long way from now till they roll the ball out next fall, but I'm hoping against hope both Darius and Jimmy are in Saluki maroon. I believe those two would be instrumental in a quicker turnaround.
--Insert something witty here--
I think the one thing that may keep Darius and Jimmy around is the fact that AB finished as one of SIU's greatest scorers and now plays professionally overseas; to me that has to be an influence to them to at least consider sticking around.

I respectfully disagree.

This also might make Beane Sr. a more attractive fit as an assistant. That being said, I don’t see Darius following his dad unless it’s a school remotely on par with SIU
Just stop
there is a 1% chance Jimmy ever plays at SIU
Darius however could return
FWIW ...
6 foot 11 inch. We are finally hearing about a big that Bryan is recruiting.
