He’ll sit a year and play two. Good news for class structure
Unfortunate that he loses a year.
Craving a McBride Special!

I am guessing but the article said he sat out the year because of injuries, I assumed he will get a red shirt for this year, then sit a year and play 3?
I hope you are correct, as this will give us another much needed "big" for three years, as well as give him time to work on his English grammar.

He didn’t play much but he got in 17 games this year. Can’t imagine he’d get a medical redshirt for that.

He didn't play at all last year. He played 17 games in the 17/18 season.

Oh wow I completely misread it. That makes sense then. So he’d be in the Brown, Domask, Harvey class (unless Brown or Domask get a redshirt) assuming he gets the medical redshirt which he should.

re. grammar, he will fit like a glove in Southern Illinois!

Great news! Well done Coach Mullins!

He’s applying to play immediately. I don’t know why he’d get a chance but that’s the plan.
To further muddy the waters...it is highly unlikely that he would be granted a sixth year of eligibility in this case. The NCAA will consider a medical hardship waiver when the student-athlete isn't able to meet the five-year rule through no fault of his own. He was injured and took a redshirt. Choosing to transfer after the redshirt season elimates the "no fault" clause because he could remain at his original school and still finish his eligibility in five years.
Do not take my interpretation of Byzantine NCAA rules as golden! It is just my quick take. I'm happy to have him here!!
Six promising recruits and counting for Mullins and Co. this spring. Nice, and badly needed.
And FWIW (maybe nothing), the Eastern Kentucky grad transfer guard mentioned earlier in this thread, Tay Weaver, liked a pair of tweets about William choosing Southern.
Have the rules changed in the last 10 years or so? I remember Creighton had a guy (Nate Funk, I think) who I would swear was eligible for social security when he finally used his eligibility up. 😛

No, but the NCAA has been pretty loose the last few years on many issues.
I hate to see bbqBarrys recruits transfer. It has to be difficult on them personally. I wish them all well. But doesn't it seem like the players Bryan has brought in to replace them are heads & shoulders above them in talent? I don't care if we even win a game next year. I am anxious to see what Bryan's teams will be in 2-3 years.
I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!

Most of the guys that transferred out did so because because they weren't going to get much play. Such as Shafer, Swedura and Fall. The Beane's transferred because there family was fired by the university and then passed over by coach Mullins. The recruits we have coming in seem to be very solid especially on short notice and most of the recruits already committed(all the Illnois Wolves already committed to Loyola). Give the new regime a full year to recruit and I feel they will thrive! At least this is how I see it.
