If you go back the last 10ish years I agree. End of Lowery into Barry. Caroline (Nevada) on that team last year is a tourney team maybe 2 years in a row. But add Kevin Dillard (Dayton), Anthony Booker (Iowa State), Josh Bone (Tennessee) the list gets long of difference makers who came and went. Hopefully the high rated recruit reverse of that - Williams, Benson, and more - can be big, quick additions to help move along sustained success with good recruiting classes around them of your traditional mid major freshman to senior guys.

I disagree. Kevin Dillard, Anthony Booker and Josh Bone were never difference makers either here or the schools they transferred to. Caroline would be the exception.I have to agree with Dawgbytes. Mullins and staff have done a great job recruiting in a short amount of time at the end of a recruiting cycle(year).
The kid from Indiana that had a 1400 SAT transferred to Valpo then grad transferred to Mich State ended up being more of a difference maker than any of those three. Brandon Wood.
jordan myers?
🤣
Forgot about Wood. Anyone who started/played big minutes in the SEC/Big12/Big10/A10 like those guys while we are going 13-19, 8-23, 14-17, 14-19, 12-21 from 2010-2015 would have made a difference for those teams in the MVC in their sophomore, junior, senior years. We don’t disagree about Mullins by any means. Very excited about him and the start of his recruiting. But there has been more talent walk in and out the door that should have kept records above .500 more often than not the last decade. To the original point, only Caroline would be a Barry guy that bailed, unless he was counting Jalen Pendleton and Bola Olaniyan.
Add Gene Teague to the list.
Add Gene Teague to the list.
He was pre-BH.
(Inflammatory political snark)

This thread has turned somewhat confusing. Bottom line: yes, SIU has lost a lot of transfers over the last decade. No, not many of them were NCAA tournament-caliber players, and the only one under Hinson who left who could meet that description was Caroline.

That's because no matter elated we ALL our with Mullins, it seems we keep hearing about BH. It reminds me of a guy who breaks up with a mediocre girl and moves on to a beautiful woman, but then still constantly brings up the ex-girlfriend. I understand the frustration of the past, heck I stopped going to games, I stopped posting for years. But it's a NEW day and I don't care about the past right now. I only care, and want to hear about, the future.
BH who?? I agree. Bryan Mullins' performance is what matters now.
FWIW - Wonder if Southern would have any interest in 6'7" grad transfer D.J. Williams (SG/SF) from George Washington. Originally transferred from Illinois to GW and is a Chicago Simeon graduate.

Speaking of Williams, do we know for sure what his status will be for 19-20? Will he play or sit?

Saw that. He just entered the transfer portal. Was a 3.7 * (composite; Rivals, Scout. ESPN) out of high school. Averaged 13.7 ppg, 4.7 rpg last year at GW. Would be able to play right away 19-20 season.
