@annabob My daughter goes to school there (Grand Canyon University). She is an athlete on scholarship. I can tell you this, the campus is amazing. Athletes are treated VERY well. Enrollment is going through the roof (currently about 25,000 students at the Phoenix campus and about 13,000 live on campus) and the athletic facilities are real nice. Every GCU basketball game sold out last year (about 7,500 capacity I think) even though they had their wosrt year in their short time at the D1 level. Plus, the crowds are absolutely INSANE. Not a bad choice if you don't mind playing in the WAC.

I've been following GCU since they first moved from Div II. They needed a change in leadership, which they got this year. They are going to be very good in a few years, if not this year. Their student body participation at games rivals that of the Duke fans. It's absolutely insane. My 2nd favorite team next to the Salukis !!!!!!!!!

I know 99% of you don't care about GCU, so I will post only this one reply... They did need a leadership change. As much as I liked Thunder Dan marjerli (sp), he just didn't coach a good college game and he lost his team by constantly tossing them under the bus. It does make me realize how good BMull is going to be a great coach, the way his is setting the foundation and culture. That aspect was sorely missed at GCU in at least the last season. GCU will be good down the road. Almost no doubt. MANY thought they would be really good already. And they will always be one of my favorite programs, behind our Dawgs of course, as long as they don't YANK my daughter's scholly for some reason.

Living here northern Kentucky, the ONLY schools these people have heard of or know ANYTHING about is UK and most of the BCS schools. When I say that I went to SIU, they always ask if we are D1. And GCU, they think it is some JC in the middle of the Grand Canyon.

I saw that as well. Also read a couple articles where Painter inferred that this kid was more into his personal agenda than getting better and a team player. As we have said many times here, Mullins is building a culture from which winning results.
It appears the NCAA has tabled the change to the one time transfer rule until January, 2021. The rule if changed will not be expected to take effect before the 2021-2022 academic year.
With this news, it appears that Steven Verplancken will have to sit out this coming season unless he applies for and is granted a waiver to play.
I look for Bryan and Staff to increase their pursuit of an experienced Grad-Transer, point or combo guard that could play 20 plus minutes per game.
