From ScoopmanTV:  New Mexico sophomore transfer Tavian Percy (6'5" guard) has chosen Weber State over IUPUI, UT-Chattanooga, Southern Illinois and Radford.

Definitely been slow going on filling these last couple scholarships. I still contend adding at least one more depth piece for this year’s team, preferably a transfer with some experience and a scoring mindset, would be quite helpful.

@siudawgs It is very difficult to recruit at anytime but especially now that being said I believe if you ask Coach Mullins about his team at this point he would be ready for the season with the current roster and any signing at this time would be a bonus

While I’m optimistic about next season, I don’t think you want to go into next year with two open rides and another (Verplancken) who has to sit. That’s asking for depth problems with injuries, discipline, ineffectiveness, etc.

I expect they’ll still add a player or two but hope it’s someone who brings more to the table than the big guy they signed late last year.

@siudawgs  i am optimistic as well this roster seems to be ahead of last years any depth would be appreciated but hopefully the returners will be better which would help hide any holes that may be perceived

I am confident we will add at least one more scholarship player.   Whether a grad transfer, Juco or frosh, i believe we will get someone to bolster this years talented squad.

@dirtydale Nephew of former Saluki Josh Cross, nephew of Florida Gator standout Dan Cross, son of CCHS alum and Illini Hoops alum and silky smooth shooter Joe Cross.

EVERY single Cross is a Class act and I am sure Chris will represent the character BM is building.   The video I've seen he shoots just like his pops.

It's my understanding that preferred walk-ons can earn a scholarship going into their second season( nothing is guaranteed), so we would still have two scholarships open for 2020. Correct me if i'm wrong.

In the video he said he found out it would be free.  Does this mean the walk-on news is wrong or am I missing something?

According to what I have read, preferred walk ons cannot get a scholarship till their second year. Confusing as to his comment that its free. Doesn't look like a preferred walk on can get compensation until the second year when they can earn a scholarship. Hmm.?

It appears he will receive a Legacy Scholarship because his Uncle played for SIU.  It also appears he will receive an Academic Scholarship.  The two scholarships together may be reason he said it would be free.

Former 3 star from Wake Forest just transferred to Western Illinois.  Both WIU and UIC have had pretty damn good recruiting years with new head coaches:
