I am sure it is very hard to find players that will buy in to the methodical offense that Bryan will demand.  We have seen Bryan slow the offensive all year to use as much shot clock possible.  Make the opponent play defense for 25 seconds on each possession.

No doubt Williams and Zachary were both very talented point guards.  In watching video of both of those players, I could not see how they would fit Bryan's style of play.  Williams was taking 30 footers with 20 seconds left on the shot clock in several of the videos available on him.  Zachary seemed to look to distribute the ball first in the videos available of him. Very few times in video, on either player, would you see the ball in their hands with under 15 seconds in the shot clock.

These kids have grown up watching the run and gun play of the NBA and I'm sure that has influenced their need for speed on the offensive side of the ball.  They want to force the offense instead of letting the game come to them.  Domask, Jones, and Brown excel in not forcing the offense!  It takes a special player that likes to win ugly every game.

On a side note, both Williams and Zachary wore jersey number 3.  SIU already has a very good committed player, Dalton Banks, that will wear that jersey number for hopefully 4 years!

Trust in Bryan and his Assistants. they will get the players they want for the system.

Once the season went on, they started to play a more faster pace.  I think the slower pace they played at the beginning of the season was by design.  And good players go to teams that play at a slower pace anyways.  Look at Purdue, Virginia, Wisconsin etc

Great point. While defense and toughness are key focal points, Bryan doesn't necessarily want them to play intentionally methodical. If you watched his coaching closely this past year, he encouraged them to push the tempo/look for quick-hitters on almost every defensive rebound.

A high volume scoring guard with some quicks would be able to get his numbers just fine in Mullins system.

I believe that the exaggerated style of offense SIU played for most of the season last year was as much a part of their shortened bench and other circumstances surrounding the team as it was "Mullins style of play".

Agree. To play uptempo, you also need REBOUNDS. The Salukis were not exactly Windex guys given the circumstances.

Everyone knows we need a few glass crashers...

March on triumphantly!

I’m not feeling great about all this.

You shouldn't.

Get your SEMO season tickets today.

It's all over.

I think Filewich would thrive in the Valley.  He's like Lucas O'Rear, only bigger.
