2020 Zach Gibson, 6'5, 200, has committed and will play football on scholarship at SIU. His Twitter reports that he will also be a walk-on for basketball. He played AAU basketball with the Illinois Wolves. His father, Oliver Gibson played football and 1 year of basketball for the University of Notre Dame. His father also played 9 years in the NFL for the Steelers and Bengals.

I was hoping SIU had a chance at Jacob Hutson... I like his game from watching available videos. Hutson appears to be as good as Belmont's 6'11 Freshman, Nick Muszynski was last season.

Dalton Banks and Jacob Hutson are connected on Twitter. It appears both play AAU ball in the Minneapolis area. Eau Claire, WI and Edina, MN (suburb of Minneapolis) are located within 100 miles of each other. According to Verbal Commits, Hutson holds 18 offers and Banks holds 9 offers. There are only three schools that have offered both of these players; Southern Illinois, Ball State, and Milwaukee. SIU offered Banks in May of 2019 and then offered Hutson in June of 2019. Lets hope these players would like to play D1 college ball on the same team and in the Valley!!! Still keeping my fingers crossed for Hutson! Maybe Hutson will take his unannounced last official visit to SIU on Sept 28 with Banks!!
