Iowa State transfer Zion Griffin (don't think we offered but someone mentioned earlier in this thread) committed to UIC. They also got a pretty good JUCO player. Will be interesting to see what Luke Yaklich does at UIC, I think he was in the "running" for our job last year.
Holy Cross finished the year 3-29 overall, 2-16 in conference, lost their last 12 games, and look to have averaged around 1400 people per game.
Do not lose any sleep over this one. He will be in the transfer portal in a year anyway.
Have patience.
Craving a McBride Special!

He may have been mentioned but this job was never really open
Give me your guesses who you think it is.

@insaluki I'm with you, this one stings, I thought Coulibaly would be a good one. Also , I haven't seen a lot of video of Filewich but the one low level offer is concerning, don't know that he is gonna have the athleticism we are looking for. I for one am hoping we aren't seriously pursuing the Michigan St kid or the UAB kid. If it happens I think the Daytona State kid would be a good complement to Muila.
One thing about Filewich, he has probably been playing against double and triple teams since he was a Freshman in high school. Its taught him how to look for the open man. Athleticism may be an issue to some, but Krutwig seems to do okay in the Valley without displaying much.
Filewich appears to have superior skills as compared to the Daytona State kid, be looks like he plays about a foot lower than him too. Tough choice. I still like the idea of getting the kid from Lewis or the Michigan grad transfer.

guesses on what?
Why not get all three!! Still have two scholarships open after that for a couple guards, 1 experienced and one that could red shirt! Dawgs are going to be running out of available minutes by bringing in several more experienced guards looking for playing time! Dawgs have nine scholarship players on The Grid right now that will be playing major minutes. Cant see much more than having an 11 man rotation with satisfactory minutes being played by incoming players.
AJ Stanton McCray!
🤑 👍
Imagine being a D1 basketball prospect and choosing Holy Cross over Southern Illinois. Yikes.
Perhaps the prospect took into account more than just basketball when he made his college selection. Holy Cross will provide him with outstanding academics and an unsurpassed alumni network to support him after graduation. Holy Cross is a great college. HC's hoops program has, uncharacteristically, been down the past decade, but I think we (I am a grad) should be on the upswing now.
Older Salukis will recall the HC-SIU NCAA tournament game from 2007. We still talk about that incredible defensive squad that you put on the floor.
Good luck next season

I remember when I graduated high school (waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in 87'. After spending 4 years in advanced and honors classes, it was assumed by the rest of my classmates that I would be attending Illinois. When I told them I was attending SIU, they couldn't believe it and ripped on SIU. I"ll never forget how I felt after that and, to be honest, I've never liked Illinois since. Anyway, my point is, don't rip on another school thinking we are better than them. Stay Classy Salukis

Doubt he chose just for basketball. An hour from the big city. Catholic. Academics. Blessed by the Pope. Red Sox fan! Likes lobster! Likes the way they say "chowda!" Afraid of the Big Muddy Monster! Holy Cross told him Joe Gottfried was still the basketball coach here! Found out campus woods has some of the healthiest poison ivy in the galaxy! Allergic to extreme humidity! Could be lots of reasons.

We want this guy. Hope the rumors are correct this time. And you guys need to start getting his name right....it's STATON-McCray, not Stanton.
While I agree on this kid.
anybody that Bryan wants is good enough for me. The just be competitive era is over. You are looking at a monster in a couple years. Top 5 MVC team with 1 jr 5 soph and 3 freshman as a core with more to come. The arrow is way way up
