We want this guy. Hope the rumors are correct this time. And you guys need to start getting his name right....it's STATON-McCray, not Stanton.
Well so much for this kid being the rumored commitment. His school still promoting offers, bummer 🥴. Well holding out hope that maybe the rumored commitment is the kid from Lewis University, would be a good pickup to ease the anxiety.
😀 @dawg88t
I don’t think so, that was posted back in January. I think this was posted to show what he can do. 😀 This recruit would be a huge get for Mullins and SIU. Man I hope they get him he would be a 🤩 here.
Imagine being a D1 basketball prospect and choosing Holy Cross over Southern Illinois. Yikes.
Perhaps the prospect took into account more than just basketball when he made his college selection. Holy Cross will provide him with outstanding academics and an unsurpassed alumni network to support him after graduation. Holy Cross is a great college. HC's hoops program has, uncharacteristically, been down the past decade, but I think we (I am a grad) should be on the upswing now.
Older Salukis will recall the HC-SIU NCAA tournament game from 2007. We still talk about that incredible defensive squad that you put on the floor.
Good luck next season
perhaps this is the case, perhaps not. having been previously involved in the recruitment game at one time i will tell you that it's rare that a teen selected a school based on "an unsurpassed alumni network." every kid is different and I don't knock hc. I have seen kids pick based on shoes, parties, women, religion, food, locker rooms, playing time, majors, swag, etc. there is no telling what will move a kid. it is almost never an alumni network.
good luck to you as well. it sucks suffering through bad hoops.
Craving a McBride Special!
Does anyone know if we went after Jalen Shaw? I think he was there for the taking and we missed on an athletic big that is being talked as a huge need
2 years ago Shaw was going to commit here but I don't think he could get academically eligible. He's the kid out of Elgin right?
Yes this is the same kid. He qualified for St Bonaventure and committed. There can’t be any difference between the two schools
He spent 2 years @ a JUCO. My guess is he qualifies now and we have a new staff. Also his assistant last year was Coach Clancy. Not sure how he feels about not being retained.
JUCO assistant coach that is.

Aaron Cook gave Clancy credit for his successful transfer to The Zags. Don't know if they were personal friends or what Clancy's interest in this was, but I doubt he was trying to help his old employer.
Clancy is a class guy. If he were doing anything it would be to help. His motives would not be to hurt SIU.
No real opinion on Clancy except for this ...Clancy was reprimanded for illegal recruiting at SIU. Attending numerous games at Logan when he wasn’t allowed.
The players really seemed to like Clancy and he was really high energy! Always the first coach out on the floor giving high fives and pumping the players up during timeouts!
Two of the players we're supposedly recruiting (Adong Makoui, Todd Burt) were on Twitter today touting offers from other schools. I'm starting to freak out....we only have 7 scholarship players officially on our roster for next year.

Just looked at their Twitters and Adong is congratulating someone he knew on a Northern Illinois offer and Todd Burt announced a DII offer from Catawba College. None of our staff is even following Todd Burt too.
