There are people that would say there are no concerns even if SIU didn't sign a single player this year. There are others that are really really concerned. Most of us, however, fall somewhere in between. That being said, I will NEVER understand why people get called out for having either opinion. I love this site because there are so many diverse opinions, I love this site because there are MANY more people that have information on this team than I do all the way up here in NW Indiana. Listen, if someone is concerned because things don't look good, they're not "on the ledge", they're concerned. And why? Because they LOVE Saluki Basketball. We are all here for the same reasons. Try to take that into account before you bash.
Having concern is perfectly fine, and can be expected. Expecting imminent demise due to April signings (or lack thereof) that was stated previously in the thread is just silly. I have the right to express my opinion as such.
Wood, I have the utmost respect for you and your inside knowledge of the program, which is infinitely more than I have. I used to love reading your posts on SalukiTalk (still have my Tshirt) and am glad it seems that you are posting more here now. FWIW, I was not referring to you specifically. That being said, to be fair, I don't feel using Domask is a good example of why people shouldn't be concerned. Him coming to SIU was an incredibly unique situation and one, surely, that is not part of the staff's recruiting strategy.
My inside knowledge is highly exaggerated. I just think that this Spring's recruiting circumstances are much more unique than being able to pull off a coup like Domask late in the game last year. So "missing out" on a few guys this Spring is not a sign of anything other than a couple things didn't go our way.....which is the name of the game EVERY single recruiting period. If you consider that concerning to a degree in which you question anything about the direction of the program, then I'm not sure what to say to you (not you, but you know what I mean 🙂 )
I recently followed him on twitter too. Not sure that makes much difference.
I saw a Dawgs fan in his recent followers!! There are several Dawg fans in his list of followers, just the Drake fans are recently loading up on him. Glad it was you!
In fact there are two more new ones since my post earlier. Love the last one "John" that reads "DrakeBulldogsMB Season Ticket Holder" Sad these "fans" don't realize that being a season ticket holder makes you a booster in the NCAA rules. Therefore, this fan's (now identified as a Booster) contact through Twitter to a respective recruit is a violation for Drake University of the NCAA recruiting rules.
Being a Saluki MBB season ticket holder, I will never follow a recruit until after SIU has that recruits LOI in hand!

Yea we warned everybody about that with the reeves kid last year. Follow don’t chat

Its not a violation for a booster to follow a prospective recruit. It would be a violation for that booster to contact the recruit either in a reply or a DM.
I will start freaking out about 2020 recruiting when Bryan Mullins, in an interview with Reis, says, "I don't know what to tell you, Mike. We just swung and missed on everyone we wanted. Now we're really going to have to beat the bushes." And then starts dumpster diving a la C-Lo and BH.
Yes, I really do believe that Mullins is that much of a stand-up guy: he would admit it if things truly went south.
Until then, I'm OK. A little frustrated, but OK. I don't think anyone here has any real idea of who the coaching staff is really after hard; just like last year, every signing could turn out to be a pleasant surprise from here on out. Sure, we have info about kids we have offered; we have zero info about kids we're after that for whatever reason we haven't officially offered. Some of these kids we have "lost out on" signed with teams that were a complete surprise; that is likely going to happen with us at some point. And if it doesn't? See the first paragraph.
There are several good posts in the past few pages about why we shouldn't freak out. And no one is "bashing" anyone for being concerned that I can see.
(Inflammatory political snark)
Quick & High release! Pair that with being 6'8 he shouldn't have many 3's swatted. I really want this kid to sign tomorrow! Would be a big get!
I'm still hoping for D'Avanzo, Makoui, and Filewich. That would leave 2 scholarships for Guards. The Dawgs currently have 5 Guards on the roster for 20-21. The Dawgs played with 6 scholarship Guards last year after Cook got injured.
all I know when I see the large number of Saluki fans following this thread, It makes me feel very good about the state of our program.
As a guy who's been researching recruiting info hours per day, I'll tell why 1) I am and 2) am not concerned.
1) We only have 8 scholarship players at this point. We've missed on some we thought we had or at least had a very good shot at. So, yes I'm freaking out a little bit.
2) As Wood and others have said, it's too early to panic. As Barkeep and others said, we still have faith in the Mullins brothers. There are still good unsigned players out there. It all starts with D'Avanzo tomorrow and I stand by my prediction that I think we'll get him. That would give us a very good Starting 5.
The more we miss on Prep players, the more we will need to go the transfer route. The silver lining is that any grad transfer schollies will roll over to 2021. And we need those for class balance anyway.
So, I'm stepping back from the ledge (for now).
As of now here is where we sit.
Guard: Jones, Brown, Banks, Butler, Harvey
Forward: Domask
Center: Muila , Dembele.
Jones and Domask are gonna play 30 minutes a game.
Harvey is an unknown, but lots of people on here are sold on him, he probably gets 30 minutes a game.
Muila probably barring foul trouble would probably get 30 minutes a game.
Those 4 are likely starters.
That would leave one starting spot up for grabs. If we get D'vanzo or whatever the name is, that would be an indication to me that they were looking to go a little bigger and play domask at the 3. I am sure that kid isn't going to want to come here if he isn't going to start and get major minutes.
Although, we have 5 spots open, if we get the right 1 or 2 guys we will be set.
We have a commit:

6'4 guard transfer from Glenville State, born in the Dominican Republic. Averaged 16.4 PPG and 5 RPG. Has 3 years of eligibility I think.
Update the grid.
