oh man. make my day please!
that would make us an instant contender.
don't run out and get the nipple ring just yet, but a guy can hope!
Craving a McBride Special!
It seams there is a lifetime bet going on amongst Saluki-insiders about a true 7 footer signing and playing at SIU.
Around 2004 or 2005, Dawgballs said he would pierce his nipples if SIU ever got a 7-footer. A few years later, 7'2 Kobby Acquah joined the team. I remember Dawgballs acknowledging the pickup, but am unsure if he ever followed through with the accessories.
@sportsfreak75 yea I remembered it from Saluki Talk. Forgot about the other 7 footer.

Think we offered him a preferred walk-on
Zion Young is going to Oakland:
The D'Avanzo commitment puts us at 9 scholarship players for next year, assuming Verplanken has to sit a year.
I would think you are looking at a starting lineup of : Jones, Harvey, Domask, D'Avanzo, Muila. With each guy playing somewhere in the ball park of 30 minutes a game.
Then you have Brown, Banks , and Butler competing for pt at the 3 guard spots, and Sekou backing up Muila at the 5.
Right now I would say Our biggest need, with Sekous health being a question mark would be another 5 man that can guard a 6'10 250 lb bruiser. 2nd we could possibly use an experienced point guard and an athletic 6'5 ish wing.
Quick question, does if Verplancken isn't available until next year, does his scholarship count against us for this year or do we have a potential 4 for this year???

It counts against us so we have 3 scholarships left.
I think you're going to see them get some kind of graduate transfer guard that can start much like Staton-McCray or Jeremiah Williams might have been had they got them.
@vnomus2 the scholarship will count when you redshirt due to transfer as I understand it...
Jones filled in admirably at the point last season, but I think ideally this team needs a veteran PG that would allow Jones to move to his natural position where he can be even more dangerous.
I have this recruiting thing down. Just tell me who you want. I will say they are going elsewhere and boom. You will get your guy
I want someone who can spell Domask reliably. Best case scenario would be someone who could bring a little something different to the mix rather than just being "Domask, but not quite as good." MD ran out of gas at the end of the season, and I would like for that not to happen again. Someone good enough that MD plays no more than, say, 28 minutes per game. Tall order, I know.

not sure why you’d want your best player only playing 28 minutes, I agree some rest would be nice, but having him sit for a third of the game would be a bit extreme.

Agree with this. I would love a veteran point guard and another 5 man, although I know it's going to be tough to get a big man to transfer in knowing his minutes are going to be limited behind Mulia. If that's the case, I wouldn't mind using that 2nd scholarship on a high schooler who we redshirt or a D1 transfer with, say, 3 years of eligibility who has to sit next year. Someone we can build the future with.
Do you guys think there's a chance Mullins banks the 3rd scholly for 2021?

It's about efficiency. Sure, maybe 28 minutes is a bit extreme, but when you start racking up the kind of minutes MD (and to some extent, McGill), they very quickly become NOT your best players.
